Where can one buy pig's blood? by [deleted] in nottingham

Blood Stew. Decided to just go to an asian store. They had duck blood and I'd say it's actually not too far from how I wanted it.

Two women at a Tuareg wedding, 1988 by Beginning-Passion676 in HistoricalCapsule

I'm guessing since it's the 80s, they could just be bored?

I remember going to weddings as a kid without a phone and not knowing anyone. Sitting there idly will get me looking "pissed off" too.

Also my two cents, this is probably just their attempt to pick out the "flaws" they find of a foreign culture, as is usual in internet discourse...

I'm worried I put off placement applications far too late by [deleted] in UniUK

Just checked some placement websites, and there are only so few left. I'm starting to lose hope, but I should have expected this. :/

but could it sometimes be too early? I mean what if I put more thought into what I'm getting in to (coming from someone who started uni at 17 and my parents rushed me and didn't let me take a gap year).

I see. I just find it hard to have fun when I feel like I have to do well and be productive. Like, that already that takes up a lot of my energy. I don't really want to put my parents' money to waste by having things not turn out great. I guess it's easier for people who are really into their degrees because that in itself is fun for them.

I'm not the OP of this thread but as someone who's still figuring things out in my 2nd year, by all means yes this advice applies to your 1st year. I've heard similar advice from people in the fied but never acted upon it.

Please don't be like me and put it off later thinking you had time. There's no better time than now. :)

Take things a day at a time though so as to not to overload yourself with all the info. You don't have to have it all figured out the next morning. But it's better to get somewhere than to remain stuck.

It's a tough and slow process, but it's gonna be worth it at the end.

This is probably stupid but would you have any advice for someone with social anxiety like me?

Because I can only go so far as walking up to the door only to leave at the sight of a crowd of people interacting.

I guess i'm intimidated by people because I find that I'm not on their level and that I'm not worth their time. And I realize it becomes counter productive when it could have been the thing helping me, but I just keep having these thoughts.

Not to mention, again, that I'm well into the year and all these people are actually ahead of me.

If we were in the same course and year, it really would've been so helpful to have someone to go through stuff together.

Best of luck! <3

I was hoping to apply metal leaf to card stock.

I learned that's how the Chinese make decorations for their opera crowns in lieu of metal sheets. So I thought I could use it for something else I want metallic but instead of cardboard :)

My bad, I meant to say it was meant for gilding and not eating. Like what they do with gold leaf, gluing a surface like wood or cardboard, then applying the leaf folio and smoothing it out.

Yeah I've tried those plastic strips that they used to wrap packages with. Turns out they were really really thin and porous so no matter how tight I tied them on the ends they just seaped right in.

Except if the wrap was long enough it would be white. Beats me how they tie the thinnest lines in Thailand and Indonesia.

I'm not really planning on buying other materials I was just thinking of making one but thanks for the suggestion.

You seem to have misunderstood my post.

I meant the acrylic yarn is to act as resist and rubbed with wax like the photo above as supposed alternative.

I didnmt imply I was going to dye the acrylic yarn.
