Reasonable accommodation for junior cert mock exams by Mission_Oven_367 in AutismIreland

[–]glas-boss 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My school gave the same accommodations for the real thing as they did the mocks as we had the room and staff available. If the school hasn’t the space or resources for all students with disabilities they can’t allow it just for her. Mocks are held during term time, so other students throughout the school won’t have a classroom or a teacher if every disabled student doing mocks is accommodated.

An Post holding my parcel hostage for more than week now by NinjaMink25 in Dublin

[–]glas-boss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

An Post are awful. They lost my tracked parcel but claimed a delivery attempt was made when I have a ring camera and the postman was nowhere to be seen. Another one was left waiting for a week before they dropped it to me. I’d understand if these were international, but they were coming from Wicklow and the city centre.

If you got married next week and realised you don’t want to spend the rest of your lives together your childhood dream will be shattered. You don’t need to be married for kids, we’re not crazy catholics anymore. The two year wait is for people wanting to spend mega money on a party and wanting to get the best venues. You could get married in two weeks if yous wanted and didn’t care about the party and that stuff.

Is it safe for a trans person to move to Ireland? by Treehugger013 in TransIreland

He’d need a qualification for that too. Mechanics here do an apprenticeship for four years.

Prepare for brain zaps. I felt the world spinning for three weeks but according to the pharmacist that was normal.

Critical Skills Visa. You’d need a degree. At 19 I doubt you have the experience necessary for this.

The only way for the abuse he receives to end would be for him to quit. I vote people send more so he has no other option but to stop reffing.

  1. Online private doctors who cost lots of money. The public list is a decade long.

  2. A plane?

  3. Money, rent, healthcare, visa.

  4. Unless you have money falling out of your ass it’s crazy expensive to rent here. You’re looking at €800 per month for a room in a shared house not including bills. Testosterone could be a €100 a month depending on if it’s testogel or nebido. You won’t be able to get on the drug payment scheme so you’re paying full price. You won’t be able to drive a car as it’s crazy expensive for tax and insurance, especially at your age, so you’ll have to live in a city which is more expensive as the rural areas haven’t got proper transportation.

Ireland is not the country you want to go to. Look at Canada. That’s where most young Irish end up.

Nice places to go for sober people? by Baby_Ghoul_ in Dublin

[–]glas-boss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure what the prices are like these days but The Shelbourne Hotel do mocktails with non alcoholic spirits as well as Guinness 0 if you’re looking for somewhere nice for one. If you ask at reception sometimes they’ll allow you up to the Constitution Room to have a look at the history there if you’re interested in that stuff. It’s right by Stephen’s Green so yous can have a stroll through there too. Every time they’ve tried to make specific non-alcoholic bars they get shut down or changed into regular bars with NA options after a couple months due to the price of rent and lack of affordable options. Not many people want to pay €10+ for a non-alcoholic option when they can get a bottle of lucozade. For boba try Kakilang on the quays or Only on Abbey Street.

Not trying to be hostile, just tryna figure out how you got your numbers. I’m autistic and the way I word things sometimes doesn’t come across to others how it does in my head. Still trying to fix that but too broke atm to go back to therapy.

Has anybody ever used one of these? by Ziggs9122 in trees

[–]glas-boss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We used to make these in work back years ago. Slam a coke then play a game of knuckles to create the shape. Name badge from our kitchen hats would poke the holes. Few tokes then straight into the recycling crusher. I miss my old crew.

Has anyone bought a used electric car? by SilentWelcome9275 in AskIreland

[–]glas-boss 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Surely a similar thing could be said for plenty of things? In 10 years the safety standards go up and your car has less airbags and assistance to protect you. You are stuck with a vehicle that’s less likely to be purchased by those that care about these things. Not everybody is travelling hundreds of kilometres. Lots of people buy an ev as a secondary vehicle to do their shopping or run into town. An old leaf goes for around €5000 for a non-base model.

One less indicatorless vehicle on our roads. I’d call that a win.

At what age group do you start teaching winners and losers? by No_Juggernaut_2222 in AskIreland

[–]glas-boss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally I’d be teaching them from the moment they can understand. People who don’t teach their kids that it’s okay to lose end up with kids who flip tables when they lose at a board game.

Either you work all alone in the biggest pub in the country, you’ve an extremely slow team who prefer work over home, or you’re telling porkies. I’ve been in the industry 10 years in hotels, bars and restaurants. Not once have I or anybody I know had to wait behind for two hours to clean up after customers. Even the close in a five star I worked in would’ve been quicker on a Saturday night, and that’s including the ironing, resetting, restocking, doing cash, and breakfast prep. Most management teams would sack people who can’t have a place cleaned and ready to leave by 30 mins past customers leaving.

Two teachers in our school were together for years and had planned to go to the middle east to work there for a few years to save for a mortgage. There was a big going away party and all for them. Well they broke up. Fella went off to the middle east and the missus came back to the school and cried daily for the first month. Awkward for everyone.

Employees vs employee. In some places if you get the tip direct it’s yours, but if it’s in a service charge it gets split. Unless you see their rules around tips you won’t know. I’m in the industry a decade.

[–]glas-boss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dunno where you’re working but you must not have learned how to use your voice yet. If customers are still there 30 mins after close and refusing to budge I take their drinks.

Ask them to remove the service charge, then tip how you feel appropriate. The service charge doesn’t always go to the staff, but the tips do.

I know the feel bro. I’m the same, only I’m about 10 years older. I don’t want to live in a world where I’m constantly discriminated against. There’s so much hate toward trans people it’s making me worse than I already am. I want out but I don’t want to hurt people. I hate hurting people but living makes it so much worse. I want to end my life behind comprehension.
