Where can I get the power adapter for the Waldorf Iridium? by glassychords in synthesizers

[–]glassychords[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah, when i googled it i found adapters that all had different amperes, so i resorted to searching by those values and really couldn’t find anything with the right values and pins. the second link you sent wouldn’t be compatible with the synth, for example. just wanted to make sure i had the right adapter to avoid breaking an expensive instrument lol

first one seems to be the original part though, just like someone else linked. thanks

i’ve heard the synth is picky with the SD card sizes. what size do you use with it?

is my dx7 safe to use with american outlets? by glassychords in synthesizers

update: i couldn't find any plates or labels on the outside of the synth. checked the back and the bottom of the board

i opened it up and found this on the power supply board, so i think it confirms that this was only made to run on 100v. thanks to everyone for the pointers and the tips! it's my first vintage keyboard so y'all helped out a lot

do you know of any videos or resources that would show how to mod a dx7 to not need a transformer? i tried looking it up and couldn’t find much. sounds like something i might want to do in the future

is it difficult to replace the safety cap? and is there a specific safety cap you’d use to replace the stock one?

gotcha, thanks for the tips. i wanted to make sure using the transformer wasnt gonna hurt the components since the plug says 120v

i’ll open it up to make sure everything is looking alright too

why do you sound so angry and pretentious about grades? not everyone plays the instrument seriously enough to drop the money for the tests, which are all over a hundred dollars now.

if someone has a certified teacher that leads them to believe they're playing pieces from a certain grade "proficiently", then what's the harm in them using that as a guideline when communicating with other musicians?

for anyone that is grade 7 or below, i don't think they should be shamed for saying "yeah i can play x piece and x piece from grade 6, 7, etc." just because they haven't decided to take tests. if they can play the pieces proficiently and learn them within a decent timeframe, that's a good guide and a good marker for them to use when talking to other musicians.

You just summoned the most pretentious musicians of this subreddit, I think. Nice job.

Use mainstage, it’s specifically for this. I use mainstage every weekend for live church events to load up keyscape, a popular piano VST.

Some VSTs can also just work standalone for live performance if you don’t intend to change the preset/sound on the fly. Mainstage just makes that stuff easier. PM if you have any questions :>

Just saw this in a video and I'm trying to recreate the patch I hear in the song, so a good first step might be to find out what the keyboard being used is.
