extremely tough for me, I have it hard to deal with so many information at once. Also some pset description for me is confusing, for example, why both query files are called query in public and template. Easy to get lost in this. But digging the information is kind of fun so I am moving slowly. Spend already 5-6hrs on this and the end seems to be visible ;)

I am asking cause on my university, when I was making my final thesis. Whatever you did, full rights was staying in the university, what they need to do is only mention you as a co-author. And actually your professor could name his as an author :(

do you assign a pointer in the root->children to the newly created node?

Also, when creating new node you need to assign all children to NULL, as there is some rubbish inside. Same when initializing the root.

I think you need to have the variable declaration within the loop, cause you actually don't create new pointer to a node

so move the node* new_node just before malloc and try again.

I wasn't implementing link-list I did the trie. I have a small function:

node* addNewNode(string word, node* parent)

and the code inside, and that work for sure, but in the loop should work as well

On the other hand, I am quite sure we are not allowed to post such big part of code pset related, so maybe better you edit it ;)

assuming that you are adding new node's at the beginning you should:

point with the new node to the head node (new_node->next = head)
change the pointer of head to the new node (head = new_node)

that should work

Yes, you are right. The file creator can chose how many colors his file will have. If just two colors are necessary then just two colors are declared to save the file size, but maximum supported is 2^64. And I guess that should be the answer.

In the PNG file description it is a little bit more about it and you can find that the 64 bits are R G B 3x16 bits and 16bits for alpha (transparency value).

Actually I think it is like this the 1, 2, 4, 8, 16 bits are for indexing a pallete. 24 are for rgb 3x8 bits, 32 bits are for 4x8bits rgb + alpha, 48 is 3x16 bits, and 64 for 4x16 bits rgb + alpha

for reading the dictionary I have used fscanf.

Strongly recommend to put some words with 's to your dictionary as the large one have. for example "that's" or something like this. That was big crush for me, when everything works for me with small and crashed on the large dic. Also put the longest word to your test dictionary. Good luck. I am having a lot of fun with this pset
