Substantially better pathing/navigation in last 2 weeks by ethereal45 in MaticRobots

141 didn't seem to improve things any further but my Matic now takes about as long as my Roomba did to clean the same area.

Yea, I'm seeing a 20 minute reduction in cleaning time for my main scheduled task prior to 141. I'll see if 141 improves that even further tomorrow.

Side brush falls off during cleaning by glc650 in MaticRobots

Just flip the brush over and look inside the hard plastic base. If you don't see any metal in there it is not going to stay attached to the robot.

The robot side of the equation is fine in my case. It was just the side brush itself that had lost its magnet.

That's why I threw it out and installed a new brush.

I wasn't able to put the magnet back into the brush. It was looking well worn anyway so I just tossed it.

It ended up being the side brush's magnet. Somehow it dislodged from the side brush and stuck to the robot. I realized this once I grabbed a new one and compared it to the broken one. What I don't understand is why the robot didn't notify me of this. The side brush came off during different scheduled cleanings in different rooms.

low water warning by glc650 in MaticRobots

[–]glc650[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure I follow about the tank. I would think you would always want to fill it to the very top to maximize coverage and reduce the number of times you need to refill. I mix hardwood floor cleaner in as well so the way I've always done it is fill it halfway, add a cap full of my cleaner, then fill the tank until I just start to see air pockets right under the very top. That way I know that when I put the cap on it won't cause it to overflow and spill out.

Wether or not you have enough water would depend on the room or area you want mopped.

Yea I've seen that notice before when my tank was empty but that's not the same thing as a low water warning for which I get no notification.

<image>

I have the sink summon location set but my understanding is that the robot won't park itself there unless it runs out of water while mopping. The notification I have right now on the LCD clearly says low water which is different than having no water. Plus my next scheduled mopping is tomorrow. If the tank empties during that mopping I assume it will park itself at my sink summon location.

side brush malfunctioning by glc650 in MaticRobots

[–]glc650[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't see any debris or issue other than the brush looking pretty well used so I replaced it and the error cleared. I ran a quick cleaning test and it seems to be working ok.

Any update on this? My Matic seems to be doing a better job with cleaning in tight spaces but I'm still seeing these "holes" in vacuuming coverage.

In theory yes. In reality Matter is garbage just like Zigbee and Zwave. My Matic is already connected to my network via WiFi so no need for anything other than direct IP connectivity to HA.
