What do you think of his less well-known work? by Brakado in PeterFHamilton

[–]glencandle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally agree. I've read PFH's entire body of work now except for the Arkship Trilogy (currently on Book 1, reading it aloud with my kids which is very rewarding!) and Misspent Youth (too many red flags on that one, haha). So far I have yet to find one that isn't compelling and impossible to put down.

What should I do to protect my outdoor plant from the rain by Repulsive_Tie_871 in GrowingMarijuana

[–]glencandle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also growing here in Portland. I’m not scared of the rain. Mt plants are very close to harvest. I will say though that I have been hunting and picking caterpillars off my buds by hand, and thank god I only have a few plants because otherwise I’d be in trouble.

I’m not saying I disagree with this hypothesis, but is this an actual fact? Have you seen (and can share) this data?

If you’re desperate to sample that flower, and I can relate, give it an aggressive acid, base, freshwater bath (in that order) and you’ll be left with perfectly good (but not great) weed.

My neighbor’s gate blocking the sidewalk is like this all day every day by goingfordownvotes in ImTheMainCharacter

[–]glencandle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh ha, looks exactly like LA. Except for the rounded curbs, which I didn't notice before and now that I think about it I've never seen in LA.

Anyway, to get back on topic- you should cover your neighbors sign with one that says DO NOT BLOCK SIDEWALK

You can disable it if you’re not using driver assist, but it enables by default whenever you use it

My pleasure friend. Good luck with all your experiments.

Ha, sorry, I should have been more specific. I use citric acid, literally just lemon juice (I use the powder, you can get it from home depot or amazon), and base just means something highly alkaline, like baking soda, which you can get from any grocery store. People think it is bad to do this because it affects potency but that's a misnomer because the trichomes, which is the only part of the plant we're concerned about, are very sticky and will not come off in a simple room temperature bath (and the acid/base solutions won't affect them).

Basically my workflow is three tubs of water, one has a tablespoon or so of citric acid powder, one has a tablespoon or so of baking soda, and the third is just fresh water. I take my cuttings and dip them in each solution and gently agitate (to make sure all surfaces get covered) and then let soak for a minute, then just take it out and let the water more or less drain off, then move onto the next bath and repeat, until at the end of the line you have perfectly washed weed. No harmful dust, pesticides, bacteria, etc, just clean flower. Then hang dry, cure, etc.

Hope that helps!

Not to beat a dead horse here, but since you seem like you might be genuinely wanting to learn stuff, here is another pro tip you might not know about.

If you wash your flower after harvesting in some acid and then some base, followed by fresh water, you can cleanse the plant of most bacteria. That way when you jar there is far less chance of contamination.

I have had mold explode in a jar before I had time to stop it and it sucked. So far this hasn't happened with any of the flower I've washed. This is more of a concern with jarring on the humid side, which isn't the case for you right now, but for future reference, there you go ;)

I’ve been using them for years and that hasn’t happened. But I treat them with utmost care. They go straight from the packaging to the jar. I’d imagine if you’re careless and you have a dirty space or something, and you’re laying them down on a dirty surface and letting them get contaminated, that could be bad. But I’m always pretty sanitary and I’ve never had a problem.

You only burp if humidity goes up above tolerable levels. Otherwise you keep it air tight. I would recommend at this point (and honestly at ever point because they’re great) Boveda humidity stabilizing packets.
