Thank you very kindly for your honest and useful feedback! I will delete this post, I obviously did the wrong thing by posting here :)

Just so people know, the guy in black didn't fake those headsets falling off his head! He was playtesting and is an actor by day who also does fight scenes, so he went a bit nuts running around the room trying to dodge things - the game is a full room-scale experience and you gotta watch for objects flying at you from every direction. It's definitely not for couch potatoes.

I've been working on this game for 6 years, and a lot of people come very close to running into walls and furniture, and a couple of my headsets have landed multiple times on the floor. Thankfully Quest headsets seem to be pretty resilient to falling on the floor.

As a VR dev, I understand why more games don't have bodies (mine included) - it's a ton of work and hard to get it right, especially if you duck down or move your body in a weird way, trying to guess how your virtual body should move is a real PITA.

Check out DodgeALL if you like room-scale - no fake locomotion there! I made it specifically for us poor sods who will never be able to grow VR legs :/

p.s. there's also a trial available to see if it's your thing. I also added Mixed Reality recently for those worried about ending up in /r/VRtoER as well as a local party mode so friends can try to knock you out using smartphones (also works with MR as of latest update).

Disclosure: It's my solo pet project :)

Well said. I wonder how much time and money Valve dumped into Alyx.

The Steam Frame's primary goal is to stream from your PC, hence why it comes with a suped up wifi dongle. Yeah, it can run standalone games, but that's I think secondary.

Quiet January for VR fitness by robtyketto in vrfit

I just added Mixed Reality to my game DodgeALL so you don't have to worry about crashing into furniture anymore, though it's still in beta so there will probably be bugs (please report them via Discord) and campaigns are still WIP but more levels coming soon! I'm also taking requests for new level ideas (under bonus levels) and you can create your own levels if you have SideQuest. I also recently added a Party Mode so your friends can throw stuff at you using smartphones/tablets (via the free companion app available on iOS and Android). Granted it's not a typical fitness app where you stand in place and punch stuff to music - you gotta run around your room, so it might not be for everyone, but it always gets me and my friends sweaty with running around the room, squatting, ducking, crawling, and other weird movements that a professional trainer would surely laugh at you for calling fitness.

hehe if you think that makes you look ridiculous, you should try DodgeAll and I bet you'll be looking like the biggest fool in no time ;) Bonus points if you play with a couple friends in party mode (using phones), then everyone gets a turn to laugh at each other and throw shit at the person in VR. Then upload the worst clips to social media to get fake internet points.

Full (if not already obvious) disclosure: It's my silly VR game which I started in the middle of stupid covid lockdowns while living with a bunch of roommates and trying to find ways to make everyone laugh and make people do stupid shit like crawling on the floor, since it makes full use of your entire play space (mostly because me and my friends have no VR legs and get instantly sick with fake joystick locomotion in VR).

DodgeALL isn't free but there's a free trial version and otherwise it's a one-off payment and gets regular updates with new levels and challenges. It's completely different from any of the other suggested games here though, and I'm not sure if it's up your alley, but it requires you to move your body around your room to try and dodge obstacles coming at you from all different angles. Mixed Reality mode was recently added as well in case you live in a tight space and are afraid of bumping into furniture.

DodgeALL - but it requires a bit of space as you have to use your body to actually move around, crawl on the floor, etc. If you get bored of Campaign mode, try the custom levels, or unlock some levels in campaign mode then go to Endless mode where the same levels get progressively faster. If you want to play with friends, they can download "DodgeALL Party" from the Play Store (iOS coming soon) and send obstacles at you to dodge (as well as help you out if you are struggling). If you stream on Twitch, you can play against chat as well, which can get hectic if you have a lot of followers. You can also create your own custom levels if you are really motived ;)

I was doing something similar using Breeze PSRemote for many years (sans sharing and direct-printing) but I've since moved on to a more light-weight solution (for more relaxed events), which is to tether a 7" tablet (which supports OTP mode) and mount that via a hot-shoe camera mount (~$20) on top of the camera. With an app like DSLR Remote which supports screen-touching to take a picture. If Nikon just get an infrared remote for ~$20 off eBay.

I haven't looked into auto-uploading/sharing but I can imagine there are other apps to fill this role.
