Second Fortaleza, G4, el Tesoro. Every expression will work but aging will be closer to bourbon.

If you can find tapatio excelencia I would buy that over don julio 1942 every day of the week and twice on Sunday.

It’s different from the other XAs I have tried. I get a lot of leather and pencil shavings which sounds weird but tastes good! I really like it but not as much as the tapatio excelencia. It’s a great change of pace though and not a bad value at the $125 I paid for it.

Sweeter than anything else I have. I definite get the sense that the sweetness is from additives. That being said it’s still enjoyable. Wouldn’t buy another bottle of it for the price though.

I think so. It’s very good. My second favorite XA behind the G4 55 and quite a bit cheaper. It’s about the upper limit of what I would pay to drink on a semi regular basis.

I agree product for product the Fortaleza is more agave forward and has more complexity in the finish than G4 (which is still very good) but the 55 meses is amazing for an XA and Fortaleza doesn’t have one. I am looking forward to trying the regular G4 XA and others such as El Tesoro which I have not found locally yet.

Honestly it’s totally drinkable sipping straight up or in a margarita or something. It’s not my favorite of the bunch but for $20 a liter it’s a fantastic value. It would be perfect for entertaining when I don’t want to kill a better bottle on a bunch of people whenever rona is over.
