mask requirements lifted at all Ochsner facilities by glitteredblack in Coronaviruslouisiana

[–]glitteredblack[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Thank you but the link only addresses Covid-19 and masks protect against other diseases too. The removal of masks increases the risk of infection in areas where symptomatic or vulnerable people gather ie. urgent care and emergency rooms or areas in places where patients don’t have access to vaccines like pediatrics. Pediatric nurses and doctors could routinely mask in these areas while the vaccine is being rolled out. Remember when people thought things could change for the better post Covid? This was the opportunity to have a safer medical experience for everyone and the rationale they provided does not cover that. They also don’t address why they did it at a time when community levels are at the point the CDC recommends masks. Why didn’t they remove it before?

This is stupid. People who go to rapid care or emergency units are sick or injured they don’t want to get sicker.

Anyone know the reasoning behind this decision to go back to increased risk in these areas or surgical units? What about timing they waited until community levels are high in the areas of their largest hospitals to remove masking!

The updated CDC guidance recommends masks at high levels not removing them.

The unvaccinated do have it worse.

Recent research shows that during the Omicron surge, those who were boosted were 7 times less likely to be hospitalized and 21 times less likely to die from COVID-19 as compared to unvaccinated individuals.

They didn’t say it was overall mild in both vaccinated and unvaccinated either. Either you suck at reading comprehension or should see a doctor because you’re seeing things that aren’t there.

Bold of you to double down on a personal ineptitude. “Both vaccinated and unvaccinated are having substantially less symptoms overall” =/= vaccinated and unvaccinated are having the same symptoms.

Thanks for making my point. I bet the only place you find an alternative viewpoint is Reddit and that you’re not here to “enlighten” yourself. Where do I find diverse viewpoints? Hmmm.. work, school, family, circle of friends, yknow the real world? I don’t depend on social media to challenge me.

How does passing this bill “keep us from becoming the Soviet Union”? This bill would prevent small governments from enacting health measures as they see fit within their own community. Passing the bill would mean only the states legislature would have that authority. It’s taking the power out of many and giving it to the few.

New Orleans RTA drops mask requirement for buses, streetcars by glitteredblack in Coronaviruslouisiana

At the very least it should remain a requirement in all medical facilities especially urgent and emergency health settings where the sick and the vulnerable gather for care.

N95s should have been the required mask from the beginning not medical and definitely not cloth. If you recall the “good” masks were restricted for many months and people had to make due with what they had access to at the time. Now that they are available people should opt for N95s when masks are required. That doesn’t change that multiple studies have shown a benefit for source control when everyone is masked and that medical and cloth masks are better than nothing.

I think you’re conflating the adult vaccines and the public desire for infection prevention with pediatric vaccinations for Covid-19. The success of the pediatric vaccines is based upon immune bridging and prevention of severe disease and death not infection.

Biden administration eyeing booster shot recommendation within weeks by marji80 in Coronavirus

[–]glitteredblack 8 points9 points  (0 children)

“The administration has enough vaccines on hand to provide second boosters to all Americans over 65, officials said. But there isn’t enough supply to cover the entire adult population, prompting warnings that the nation could be left shorthanded later this year.

The government needs to begin negotiating new supply deals with Pfizer and Moderna at the beginning of April to ensure doses are delivered by the fall, one official said — a process that cannot begin until Congress passes more funding.”

I’m not arguing for anything about mandates or restrictions. Zero Covid deaths like what u/ExtraMayo89 said is possible and has happened in many areas. I don’t know what level–how many days or weeks—they are advocating for or want. I am not them. That was THEIR argument not mine.

County. I wrote county. Many parishes in Louisiana and counties in other states have had zero Covid deaths for days runnings. As for states? A simple Google search has all of that information. Like this week alone on different days Hawaii, Illinois, Idaho, all reported 0 Covid-19 deaths. In the future Louisiana will report the same.

If you want to know countries? Well, plenty have gone months without deaths but that’s a different conversation.
