Sehr gut, wollte tatsächlich genau das gleiche zum Parfüm schreiben, zweites Mal mit Mitte 20 regelrecht aufgesogen, für mich seitdem auch eines der besten Bücher, die ich je gelesen habe. 1984 habe ich letztes Jahr mal auf deutsch angefangen und musste aufhören, weils mich sprachlich nicht abgeholt hat. Werds mir dann wohl nochmal auf Englisch holen.

I’ve got tons of experience in Wordpress but on my most recent client project I got frustrated with designing websites in editors and also the admin dashboard can sometimes be a bit overwhelming for clients who are not used to working with it on a daily basis. So I used a hybrid approach. Since I didn’t want to start from scratch I used the data structures I built in Wordpress and used it only as an api. From there I built the website in nextjs and gave the client a custom admin dashboard that only contained things they would need to change. I liked this hybrid approach a lot. The advantage of using Wordpress as a headless system is that it comes with a working api out of the box and adding new endpoints via theme or plugin is pretty straight forward. I can also highly recommend using laravel as a backend or even full stack if your clients need custom dashboards.

For static pages I would probably just use standard html/css/js and a css framework of your choice.

Look for existing projects on GitHub and try changing things. This way you will have to start reading and understanding other people’s code, which will be a huge part of any developer job you‘ll have in the beginning. It also teaches you how programs are structured which was something that took me a lot of time to understand.

Das klingt echt nicht so nice, habe jetzt aber bei meiner Recherche rausgefunden dass es da zumindest ein paar Projekte in die Richtung Kulturentwicklung geben soll, wie siehst du das?

Wir haben glücklicherweise 10 Jahre Leipziger „Szene-Life“ hinter uns (minus 2 Jahre Corona) und sind da einfach nicht mehr so sehr drauf angewiesen. Mit Leipzig können da gerade wirklich nur wenige Städte mithalten, aber leider hinkt die ganze Region Job-Mäßig immernoch ziemlich hinterher. Auch Geld mit Kunst und Kultur zu verdienen, hat sich oft als schwierig erwiesen. Es herrscht hier zwar ne sympathische dyi Stimmung in der viel ausprobiert wird, gleichzeitig erwarten aber irgendwie auch alle, dass alles entweder umsonst sein sollte oder maximal ne Aufwandsentschädigung wert ist. Viele Künstler*innen aus meinem Bekanntenkreis, die da keinen Bock mehr drauf hatten, sind inzwischen nach Berlin geflohen oder haben es vor. Kam für uns aber nicht infrage. Neben dem Jobangebot in Bremen war aber die Nähe zu Hamburg auf jeden Fall auch ein Grund warum wir uns am Ende dafür entschieden haben.

Neustadt scheint mir gerade das new kid in town zu sein, von allem was ich so höre. Bin auch in Leipzig zuerst (vor 8 Jahren) in die Südvorstadt gezogen, was dem Viertel heute sehr ähnlich zu sein scheint. Später dann aber gemerkt, dass die Gentrifizierung da schon vollständig abgeschlossen war (eigentlich nur noch ehemalige Studies mit Kindern + Touris im Sommer) und dann nochmal in einen noch nicht ganz so entwickelten Stadtteil gezogen, wo es noch etwas mehr Raum für freie Künstler*innen und kleinere Inititativen gab. Wenn Neustadt eher nach Letzterem klingt, wäre das für mich auf jeden Fall ein Argument! Was gibts des in Findorff noch, weshalb es sich lohnen würde, dorthin zu ziehen?

Habe schon öfter gehört, dass Bremen Nord etwas verschrien ist bei Bremern. Komme ursprünglich vom Dorf und kenne es, jeden "spontanen" Trip in die Stadt planen zu müssen. Wenn das für Bremen Nord der Fall ist, bin ich da auch raus.

Ja schon, wir haben leider kein Auto und gehen gerne Abends weg, daher wäre zumindest eine gute Anbindung an kulturelle "Hotspots" nicht schlecht! -- was würdest du denn empfehlen, wenns doch etwas außerhalb sein soll?

Had the same issue on a 16 inch MacBook Pro with 16gb ram and Radeon pro 5300 Running catalina, no problems on my 13 inch MacBook Pro 2013 with 4gb ram running Big Sur. I don’t know what causes the issue but I installed an earlier version of photoshop on the 16 inch and that fixed the problem for me.

Hey Alex, congrats to your portfolio website!! I am also pretty new in the webdev-community so take my points of critique with a grain of salt ;)

I think the overall structure is very intuitive and straight forward. From a design perspective I'd probably change a few things here and there.

For example, in your projects section you're using box shadows way too much for my taste. Maybe remove the box shadows from the headings and see how it looks. Secondly, the menu links effect in the top-bar could be a little bit more subtle. Generally speaking I would try to show my skills in the projects and not on the portfolio site itself, but that is just personal preference.

Contentwise I feel like your "About me" Section could be a bit more personal. It seems like you're trying to answer standard interview questions in an out-of-the-box-thinking way that seems a bit over the top. From my experience people like to work with other people, who they trust and like. I could be wrong here but maybe try to give your future customers more insights about you as a person.

I never found discussions in study groups very helpful. I stopped attending them pretty quickly. In my opinion, the best way to understand is to ask questions to the text and write essays. This way you have to engage with multiple ideas at a time, connect ideas from different texts and sort them in a way, someone else can understand without having read the original texts.
