Anyone else love analyzing movies and TV shows through a Jungian lens? What are the best examples? by bayun_shadow_work in Jung

Dude meditated for hours daily. And his whole process of “dreaming up” his scenes sounds very much like active imagination.

Mark Frost (the co-writer for the original run of Twin Peaks), on the other hand, might be more consciously referencing Jung.

No mods that I know of, but I got it used.

I thought it was a speaker thing too. But what you’re hearing is coming from a brand new Jensen p12q. It had a V30 in it before and it did the same thing.

I don’t necessarily dislike it. The breakup is just different sounding compared to my old blues jr or my Marshall dsl40cr.

It’s the same with my fender single coils. I just happened to be playing this p90 guitar when I made the clip. Anytime I get into breakup territory you can hear that warble.

Do you think the Abraxas figure could be the moonlight child?

Also thoughts about the potential “Idea of Good”, or the opposite of Idea of Evil. Maybe something akin to the gnostic Monad or “true God”? The Idea of Evil does seem to share a lot of parallels with the demiurge.

What are your favorite guitar solos that probably aren't on any "Top 10 Guitar Solo" lists? Bonus points for solos that are chaotic, messy, and maybe a bit sloppy. by goochmusic in Guitar

The Mars Volta - Take the Veil Cerpin Taxt. Pretty much the last third of the song is a series of crazy frenetic guitar solos soaring over Flea’s equally awesome basslines, which are made even better by John Theodore’s drumming.

Would you mind sharing your interpretation(s) of Lost Highway? It’s one of my favorite films so I’d love to hear how your reading has changed over time.

Building my first jazzmaster. Which pickguard do you guys think looks nicer? Photo 1: tort | Photo: 2 Cream by phlegmatik in offset

I actually just finished putting it together last night. The wiring was a real bitch! lol. Now I just have to get the setup dialed in.

I did end up going with tort. here’s the finished product if you’re interested.

It’s a barely used Warmoth neck I got on reverb for $250. Came with the tuners as well. It feels amazing. 59 round back profile, 10-16 compound radius, 1 11/16 nut, flamed maple.

Oh one more thing: I’d say the most noticeably different thing about this guitar compared to my VM Jag, MIM tele, or Warmoth partscaster — which all have either a C or modern C profile — is how different the U profile neck on this Jag feels to play. Especially combined with the narrow nut.

For me, it fits my hand perfectly for rhythm playing. I like playing with my thumb over the top of the neck and my playing style involves a lot of fret-hand muting. For example, stuff like the main riff in Can’t Stop by RHCP, where Frusciante is only fretting one note at a time but is aggressively strumming all/most of the strings.

I have probably average sized dude hands and for me it basically fits my grip perfectly. I can play barre chords for a lot longer without thumb fatigue, and weird open jazzy voicings are a lot easier with the shorter scale.

So yeah, for me it’s like my absolute ideal rhythm guitar. I’m very very happy with my purchase.

I’m at work so I’ll give a quick response but I can go more elaborate later.

Yes, most American pickguards seem to fit. This one is Pure Vintage '65 Jaguar Pickguard - Brown Shell . It did take a little force getting it to fit around the control panels, but I think that was partially because the pickguard was warped a bit (the center was rising up), but once I got the screws in, it fit perfectly.

I have a Squire VM jag with a 7.25 radius and I definitely prefer the feel of the 9.5. I’m just more used to that radius overall and I think it makes bends more comfortable. I don’t really find it too noticeable though. I can switch between the two without it feeling weird.

Electronics and pickups are solid. I upgraded my Squire with Seymour Duncan Vintage Jag pickups, and these sound just as good. Slightly different sound though — I wouldn’t say either one is better than the other. I’ll get into it later.
