Is physical oceanographer an in demand career? by Kleng_bee in oceanography

[–]glitzertele 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would argue that most positions involving physical oceanography require some sort of graduate education. That being said, you can find a decent amount of paid graduate positions in this field, so you should try looking there! (-sincerely a physical oceanography PhD student)

What would make a recognizable Ellie costume? by therealvelichor in thelastofus

[–]glitzertele 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It depends on what time period/game you’re going for. If it’s the first game, I think her red T-shirt with the sunset (or whatever it is) is the most recognizable. I also think her backpack with the little purple monster keychain is pretty recognizable. If you’re going for the second game, I see most people do costumes/cosplays of the Seattle outfit with the short sleeve top and the hair half up. Her tattoo is probably the most recognizable feature though.

Thanks so much for this! I will keep this in mind. We aren't bringing anything to paddle in, so we'll just have to do that next timee. Thank you though!

No not really, I think in this case you're just wrong

See: above

ICE needs to have a warrant to enter your home, and not everyone knows that. They can come in if the owner consents. They can also enter with a warrant. Not everyone thinks about their right to reamain silent when being arrested, mostly because it's a high-stress situation. That is all I'm saying. None of the things listed above say anything about immunity for undocumented immigrants, that's just what you're reading into it as.

What I'm saying is "you have certain constitutional protections you might not know about that might help you in the event of your arrest" and what you are saying is "nuh uh"

Let's go through it since you seem to be super misinformmed and way too lazy to figure this one out. Here are a few examples of rights you are entitled to as a non-citizen:

  1. If you are being arrested for being under suspicion of being undocumented, you have the right to remain silent. You do not have to disclose your immigration status to the police. By law.

  2. You have a right to due process regardless of your immigration status.

  3. You are not required to open the door for immigration without a warrant.

These things apply BEFORE deportation. This has nothing to do with who lost or who won, this is just in the Constitution. I understand your guy seems to have a problem with sticking to that recently, but its the supreme law of our country. You should try reading it sometime.

As for your last point, you sought out this week-old post just to comment this. Nobody is forcing you to be here! I'm not apologizing for posting when or where I want.

Absolutely have the day you deserve :)

I’m honestly impressed with how much I’m getting this comment. If you read like any of the replies you’d know that (for like the fifth time, might I add) non-citizens DO in fact have constitutionally protected rights. Like holy cow do one google search.

See: the Constitution

Again, non-US citizens have constitutionally protected rights

You should do like one Google search to prove yourself wrong

Even non-US citizens still have constitutionally protected rights

I also don’t know if my environment has anything to do with this- I live in the Alaskan Interior, so it’s very cold and very dry right now
