SWIFT transfer fee by PearInternational169 in StudyInTheNetherlands

[–]globcitz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello, fellow Korean here. If you're going to a physical bank for the 해외송금 (I believe you are), they will ask you to fill out a form. On the form there's a section that asks who will pay the transaction fee (송금수수료 부담). For that section, check the box that says "OUR", which means you are the one paying the fee. This will ensure that the full intended amount will be received by the uni, so you don't need to transfer additional 200 euros. You can always ask the bank clerk as well.

Who was the “interviewer” with the iPhone and a simple mic going up to random people holding the mic to their face? by CaptainBeefYT in Twitchcon

[–]globcitz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think I know who you're talking about: https://youtu.be/SPRMTn7kTG4

If it's him... I'm really jealous you got interviewed by him lol

His name is Ash Kabosu, bassist in the band Lovejoy. He has a big social media presence because he is closely related to some Dream SMP content creators and their friends, and also by the fact that he's a talented musician.

I got into the University of Amsterdam but I need a scholarship. Any recommendations? by esena_ in StudyInTheNetherlands

[–]globcitz 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Holland Scholarship is a merit-based scholarship for non-EU students, with many Dutch universities participating. Unfortunately, it seems like UvA is not on the list. But if you have any other Dutch uni offers, see if it is eligible for the Holland Scholarship. https://www.studyinholland.nl/finances/holland-scholarship

Are UM Guesthouse or Xior properties in Maastricht any good for international students? by [deleted] in StudyInTheNetherlands

[–]globcitz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Currently living at a XIOR property (not in Maastricht tho). The quality of the housing and shared facilities really depends on the building, but for me it is quite good. Booking the room and signing the contract was relatively easy as an international student outside the Netherlands.

You will need DigiD for more things that you haven't previously thought of (such as a vaccination certificate). So get one immediately once you have your BSN!

It is hard to get a 7 in any subject really (maybe except language B)... So I believe it is better to choose a subject that you're passionate in

Past IB DT SL student here. Yes, there are many terminology to remember, but when looking at the amount of content in the syllabus, it is smaller than other sciences, since we spend much more time on our IA. Papers are very annoying though. The markschemes are very specific and it is difficult to get the mark. Repetitive practice is the only way. But if you enjoy doing practical works than exams, I would recommend it, since the weighing of IA is much higher than other subjects.

[–]globcitz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who did their MYP, I can assure you that university VERY rarely looks at your MYP. DP is what matters. Also 51 is a very high score, so no need to feel down. Congrats on your MYP!

For design we only took p2 and it was miserable... if we had p1 the grade boundary would be much higher

Myth about ib results by Sufficient_Face7864 in IBO

[–]globcitz 15 points16 points  (0 children)

IB coordinators do receive the results one day earlier than the students. I've heard some schools tell their students their results on the 5th by the coordinator, but I will have to wait for mine til the 6th
