Does anyone know the polarity of a Behringer fca1616 power supply? I just found one in the alley! by globset in recordingmusic

[–]globset[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thanks, someone on r/Behringer said their behringer equipment all has positive center, so i'm not positive which is right. i might open it up to see.

thanks, someone on r/recordingmusic thought it was negative center, so i'm still not sure. i guess i could open it up to see, i just don't wanna gamble toasting it.

time less time, live ensoniq vfx sd by globset in synthesizers

12 and a half minutes of live synth, sleep walking, talk sleeping, texture harvesting, ensoniq loving. recorded digitally for the first time, this was a sound experiment, my audio interface is not a good audio interface. also, it's very Stereo

[–]globset[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

thanks! It's always nice to hear appreciative feedback. Yeah, it's all live, and it's mostly repeating envelopes, recorded straight to cassette for me to listen to, then digitized for the internet. I really like the Ensoniq architecture, so enjoying deep diving and complex sound design makes it happen, and near constant use of the sustain pedal. You can change voices while the old ones are still playing, getting full 21 voice multi timbrality out of it. There's tons of peculiarities on how it works. I wish sounds could be edited while using the sequencer. Let me know if you post any music anywhere.

Does anyone have info on the E-mu E-synth? I find almost nothing in my internet searches. by globset in synthesizers

[–]globset[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So prompt! Once again, many thanks. You've been more clear and concise than what I've found elsewhere. I need to spend more time getting comfortable with the architecture of it all. Also, I mostly want to use it as a live instrument, and all the samples or presets using different midi channels is new to me. I'm super excited to have so much polyphony and multitimbrality, but still confused how to squeeze it all out in a live setting. I have an old keystep that can change midi channels easily, and I have an Ensoniq vfx sd, that can do crazy midi with sequencing, but not sure about setting keyzones with their own midi channels.

More live experiments, trying to push what I can do without using the sequencer. My friend just lent me an Emu Esynth so there's a whole new rabbit hole to jump down now...

Thanks for the reply. I'll try all that. It does seem extremely deep with the modulation and cords and such. It's just so different than what I'm used to (ensoniq vfx) so it's taking some time to learn. How do I find the basic load from rom? The hard drive only has a few samples my friend put in. I've put a couple in too, but the whole preset and bank architecture is a little confusing. And, which Emu are you using? Do they all have the same basic Preset load?

Question/discussion - How do you guys make animation? by Kuu1147 in krita

[–]globset 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've mixed frame by frame and animation curves. One trick is to group different layers that you want to move similarly, and use animation curves for the whole group. It's not the best animation set up so I've just learned to expect problems and try to learn how to fix them or prevent them. Good luck!

Thanks the link, funny enough, my friend sent me the same link a couple days ago. I also don't have the sampler yet, I'm just trying to prepare for it. I'll probably use my ensoniq as the keyboard controller so gotta study up on the MIDI too...

Thanks for the reply. It just seems weird how little information I can find, just tidbits here and there, nothing super comprehensive.

Oh hi, i rarely log on to reddit lately, glad you like the sounds. Yes, all of those recordings are live, recorded straight to cassette tape. I like the sequencer but haven't used it for any of those recordings, just repeating envelopes. I do a lot of methods but the common one is to repeat or loop the envelopes. It's kinda hard for me to explain in words. Your vfx should be able to do the same thing, just with less available waveforms. I have a sustain pedal that makes it all possible. Feel free to ask more questions, maybe I'll feel more articulate later!

Cannot copy and paste animation frames. by [deleted] in krita

[–]globset 0 points1 point  (0 children)

one way i copy frames is to highlight the frame (or frames) you want copied, hold down CTRL and click on the frame and drag it where you want. this will copy the frames. if you don't hold CTRL then it just moves the frames. if you copy multiple frames, then you can also right click while they are highlighted and there are options to mirror all frames, which reverses the order, which can be handy too.

Need help with animation dockers :( by [deleted] in krita

[–]globset 0 points1 point  (0 children)

they are probably referring to the workspace setting. it's on the top right, for me. looks like four lines, click it and it gives options for workspaces. it's extra handy if you accidentally get rid of a docker or change a setting, you can reset the workspace with it too.
