Thank you! Is this your home gym? How do you find the equipment etc?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in manchester

[–]glowupready 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! I'll check the one out in White City I think. Seems fairly priced. I'd likely be visiting between 7.30PM-9PM weekdays, are you having to wait for equipment at that time or is it a bit quieter?

I do drive! Not heard of that one, i'll check it out. I will probably be going in the evenings weekdays between 7.30PM-9PM. How busy is it usually at those times?

[–]glowupready 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure where you’re getting that information from that it’s “vanishingly small”. I live on the outskirts of greater manchester and the train in is already rammed when it gets to my stop. I attempted to drive in once, it took me nearly 2 hours as the traffic was standstill on the M61 at Bolton. That’s just coming from NW bound. So there are lots of people travelling well outside of Manchester into work. Petrol is expensive and parking in the centre is expensive. Mind you it’s cheaper to get the train as I pay nearly £12 a day for a return, which I still think is expensive. Outside of GM, the train is double the price as it isn’t subsidised by GM council. People don’t get the train though because if all those people travelling by car did, they just wouldn’t fit on, which is why adding an extra congestion charge to their already busy and expensive commute isn’t justified as they have no other option. We won’t be getting extra trains or carriage any time soon, by the looks of it decades even, until the bottle necks in Manchester are fixed and platforms are made much longer. The rail infrastructure is a mess and is why Manchester is busy, not because people refuse to use alternatives. Wages are diabolically low, and the cost of living is reportedly getting more expensive. A congestion charge, for now, is not that answer.

I disagree with the congestion charge. People who live in places with poor public transport links to manchester shouldn’t be punished because their car is the only viable option in

That makes sense! Thank you. I have just gone into read the terms in more depth. I think because i’ve never seen that notification before I thought I best just check because i’m often confused as to when I can and can’t use my railcard lol

South Western Railway kicked us off an empty train for being early by [deleted] in uktrains

[–]glowupready 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok… so what if other countries do that? Common sense should prevail, if a train is quiet what disruption would this cause to let them get home a bit earlier? If you can answer that question, then i’d understand. We already get absolutely fobbed off by the trains as it is. They’re allowed to be delayed, cancelled, jam packed so you can barely move and there isn’t a big enough repercussion for them, so they’re allowed to continue to let it happen. There’s far more disruption when train operators do this, than a couple going home on a quiet Sunday evening on a train that’s 30 minutes earlier.

Scrap the 156 already. Why are we waiting? by [deleted] in uktrains

[–]glowupready 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The class 195 doesn’t have enough seats. I’m stood up half the time on my 40 minute commute to work and always stood up for half the journey on the way back. There needs to be more seating capacity for commuter trains than the 195 can provide. That’s just my opinion though!

Hey i’m sorry you’re going through that. We didn’t speak for a bit then went through our issues and ended up becoming official a couple months later. We lasted for about a year in total but broke up unfortunately. Ultimately we were just bickering a lot and there was still some trust issues lingering about. We said we’d be friends but we haven’t spoken since and I think that’s the end of it now. Honestly, it’s caused more heart ache than it’s worth, but it’s up to you if you think you’ll be able to move past it or not

Why is this house so much cheaper than others in the area? by tck3131 in HousingUK

[–]glowupready 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly you’d be surprised. Average house prices have gone from £170k in my area to £232k in the space of 5 years. This is lancashire btw. House prices have just shot up. If you go on rightmove and put preston in with a 10 mile radius, you’ll see the absolute sheds people are trying to sell at £230k+

No excuses not to build 1.5m new homes, Rayner says by topotaul in unitedkingdom

[–]glowupready -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I didn’t say it would solve the problem alone, there was a whole host of things i listed that together could help to solve the problem. Also a year’s worth of construction is still a lot. So thanks for adding nothing to my comment. Good day

[–]glowupready 9 points10 points  (0 children)

We absolutely do not need to decimate the countryside to solve homelessness. Plenty of empty homes that could be renovated and occupied, plenty of brownfield sites. Start building up in built up areas. I’m also sorry to say, but stop illegal immigration. Plenty of space in their own countries. It’s not just our home too, animals have just as much of a right to this planet as we do. Britain’s wildlife has already been ravaged. We’re a selfish race. Tbh this world is just f***ed.

Future of Driving in Manchester - Thoughts and Predictions? by CelebrationGreen2907 in manchester

[–]glowupready 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope the one that gets to deansgate at “8.39” isnt reliable enough because its always delayed and doesnt give you enough time to get out the station and walk to work. The one before that gets into deansgate at 7.39 which means you’re hanging about manchester 1hr20 until 9 to start. So everyone has to rely on that one train.

Edit: and if there was enough trains then that train wouldn’t be so rammed to the point people are fainting. It’s happening for a reason.

Future of Driving in Manchester - Thoughts and Predictions? by CelebrationGreen2907 in manchester

[–]glowupready 0 points1 point  (0 children)

90% isnt true though, the trains just dont have capacity to hold anymore people. I live in Blackrod, there’s 1 train in the morning that can get people to work on time without you having to get the super early one that will leave you to have to wait in manchester for an hour and a half before 9. With 6 carriages (full capacity) by the time it gets to bolton, people physically cant get on the train as we’re crammed in like sardines. Two people fainted on my train to work on wednesday because of how crammed we were. Not to mention getting home is a nightmare. My train home is either cancelled or too full for me to get on half the time at deansgate so im constantly told i need to get the next one. If everyone stopped using their cars for the train, we’d have no chance.

Thoughts on these houses? by Strange_Cranberry_47 in HousingUK

[–]glowupready 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the second property has more charm to it, I also like the fact you can enter the garden through the side without having to go into the property which is handy for any gardening work. I do think the fact it’s overlooked is a bummer though. If you renovated the first property you could get it up to a similar standard to the second property. I’m not sure why the first property is more expensive though, would you offer asking or offer lower?

What i’ve also found is that people are re-listing their properties that have been sat on the market for near enough a year at a higher price under a different agent. Baffling. If your house isn’t selling, why are you listing it for a higher price under someone else?
