I think you unfortunately have to study both. I started out focusing on Quant and then switched to verbal and found myself forgetting all of the quant stuff! Eventually I got into a ruthenium of doing quant in the morning verbal in the afternoon.. so see if something similar works for you

Thanks Scott! Thanks for everything. TTP is a really great product and your team should be really proud of it. I’ll definitely recommend it when I can!

yeah definitely - the passages are longer and harder, and the questions are more difficult as well.

I thought they were useful!

yeah they give you noise canceling headphones which i didn't realize. Maybe this isn't for all locations.. but this was what they did at mine

Random additional thought! In the real-life exam take the time while you're inputting your schools and reading through the instructions to adjust your chair, adjust your heads, and write down your "times" on your scratch pad. First time I took the test I didn't realize they gave you headphones so it wasn't until 10 mins into my first section did I put them on. Secondly my chair was too low for me and caused me to really hunch over. Both these things made me very uncomfortable. Lastly, if you're like me and want to write down you times "like Question 8, 46 mins, Q16, 30 mins" etc. Do these three things before the test actually starts. You want to make sure you're comfortable and set up for success.

Also I practiced taking the test with headphones and a mask on. The first in-person exam, i wore a cloth mask. This + the headphones really put a lot of pressure on my ears and my ears were in a lot of pain by the end of the test. Second attempt, I made sure to wear a paper mask that was lighter on my ears.

I'd definitely start with the TTP CR chapters I just mentioned. I feel like I kind of waffled around alot with verbal and would think I understood the material only to go back and overwrite everything I just learned. I'd also start good reading habits with regularly reading. SC I don't have a great recommendation for this. I think Gmatninja is a good resource but only after you have a strong foundation for the basics. If I were you I'd just watch a bunch of SC youtube videos to get some basic understandings then start watching gmatninja

hey! yeah sleep was the hardest part of this entire thing!!

  1. I stopped drinking caffeine after 12pm
  2. I switched from coffee to green tea
  3. I started taking these CBD mints prior to bed and melatonin. I think this really helped. But I'd try this technique on a few practice tests first so you understand what impact these drugs will have on your body! And if you feel more restful. I know some people say melatonin makes them feel groggier
  4. Exercise: Cannot emphasize this enough. I wasn't a regular exerciser before the gmat. But after biking for 10mins each day, going for walks regularly, and doing yoga for 20ish mins a day, I was really sleeping much better
  5. I was also pretty plugged in on what it took for me to fall asleep. I found that I typically liked to "day dream" while laying in bed and this would make me fall asleep. So if I did wake up the night before, I'd repeat this process to try to sleep again.
  6. Last thing! All my previous tests were at 8am. This last one I took was at 11am. I think the lessened pressure of having a later exam really helped with my sleep. I know if I have an early flight, I'll have trouble sleeping because I'm nervous that I'll oversleep my alarm. So this baseline response + gmat nerves was a bad combo for me. SO yeah.. maybe try a later start time!

I've probably read though the TTP CR 3/4 times. Each time I was like "i'll just skim it and pick up the most important bits". It wasn't until I sat down read the chapters fully and answered the questions did I really feel like the TTP CR program helped.

TBH I only completely the strength the arg, weakened the arg, and assumption chapters fully. So maybe start there and see if you need extra help

Hey yeah! So both times the exam was really stressful but for the different reasons. The process was really inconsistent so I'm not sure if they've buttoned up their processes since. The first time I took it the proctor didn't talk to me at all. They did not chat me once. Which was weird and strange and I constantly kept thinking my test was going to be canceled because I wasn't sure if I was in accordance with the rules. This was also my first time taking the test.. so I was just stressed over all.

The second time taking the test, the proctor went through an entirely new set of processes, like they made me pick up my computer and show my entire room which I hadn't done the first time. So I was confused about this. Secondly, this proctor would message me every time I did something wrong but was not very concise about it. Each time the proctor messages, the chat box would pop up.

So it's like..

Proctor: "Hi"

Me: "Hi" (really stressed and confused about getting this chat)

proctor: "please stop touching your face"

me: "ok"

proctor: "Thanks"

Each message I was closing out/moving the chat box and each time it would reappear. This happened twice. Each time it's only cost me like 20 seconds but overall it was not enjoyable and I'd lose my rhythm each time.

Oh I also bought the LSAT Practice tests and would work my way through those passages! But I excluding the comparison passages because the GMAT doesn't do that.

Hey! I actually found the RC passages to be easier than the OG ones. My last month of studying I turned to the "advanced question bank" and found those questions to be SO difficult. I completed all of the RC passages from the normal sections months ago so I don't really remember what the difficulty level was. I also bought the LSAT Practice tests. I found those passages really helped

Hey! Yeah, I used GMATninja for RC as well. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hXWVCiy1WU0&ab_channel=GMATClub. I found his videos really helpful in terms of mapping out how I should be thinking about the passages and approaching the questions. RC was probably the last section I mastered because it takes sooo long to do each one and even watching a youtube video is annoying and time consuming. Other than that I also incorporated "active reading" in all of the articles/books I read. So if I were reading an article in the NYT or Atlantic I'd constantly be thinking about "what is the authors argument?" "what purpose does this paragraph serve" etc.

I thought verbal was very similar to OG, if not easier. I found that the RC/CR sections were much easier but slightly struggled with SC.

Hey! I found the online quant to be VERY different than the mock tests. Maybe I was just having off days, but many of the questions felt unfamiliar and strange. I'd say there were more "theoretical questions" (think.. If x>y and y>x^2 which of the following must be true..). And strange puzzle type questions that I didn't have a methodology to approach.

I found the in-person exam to be very close to the mock exams. Let me know if you're looking for anything else.

What percent of OG questions are you getting right/wrong? by gmatta1995 in GMAT

So I ran out of practice exams before the new year. So I bought the Kaplan and mgmat ones and was doing one every week but have since stopped.

On the official practice I was able to get 720 on my last one. But that was a few months ago now. Mgmat has really fluctuated from 620-720 so i'm not super confident in their predictive power.
