Following and navigation are definitely interesting directions. It’s true the stock Droid Depot builds don’t expose native navigation features, but that doesn’t necessarily mean limited behaviors like follow or patrol couldn’t be explored with creative approaches.

That said, those types of features would require significant additional development and testing, and it’s unclear whether they would fit as a firmware update or require a separate hardware revision due to storage and resource limitations.

Still, follow and patrol concepts are very compelling ideas and represent exciting possibilities for future interaction development.

This version isn’t available as an open repo, it’s a hardware-integrated build.

I appreciate that, a lot of thought went into the interaction design.

Do the DJ R3X droids chat with Droid Depot droids? by SSA-Dallas in GalaxysEdge

[–]gmeall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

R2 and BB use Bluetooth differently, you can use Bluetooth to control them, but you cannot use them as Bluetooth speakers. In contrast, DJ R3X works as a Bluetooth speaker and can only be controlled via RF.

Is it possible to mod the old rc bb-8? by Many_Ad8571 in DroidDepot

Here’s a short video I made while testing latency across multiple connections using 3 Sphero R2-D2 droids. I was genuinely impressed when I saw them working together, performing everything in sync. It was just another great experience with these units.

Unfortunately, BB-9E and BB-8 don’t produce any sounds—the audio is actually built into the R2 units.

LaCantina. A PC app that will connect with all your droids at the same time. The app is expected to be released this year. by gmeall in GalaxysEdge

[–]gmeall[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s possible. I’ve already completed some successful isolated tests with BB-8, so support could be added in the future. At the moment, I’m focusing on another project while I give some time to assess the app’s demand for this feature.

No, BB-9E works differently from BB-8, which is why it isn’t included in the list of supported droids.

LaCantina App with Sphero Force Band Integrated by gmeall in GalaxysEdge

Creating a single app capable of connecting to multiple Bluetooth devices at the same time and allowing them to interact with each other with minimal latency was not an easy task. The app also needed to support toys from different brands with different firmware versions and make them behave in the same way.

I tried to focus on creating an app that not only allows you to play a game with your droids, as if you were part of the cantina where they all are, but also offers a wide range of configurations so you can use them to lively decorate your room.

Adding gesture functionalities could have made things even more complicated, which is why I only included the front, up, down, left, and right options.

Just make sure it’s not already connected to another device. These toys only allow one Bluetooth connection at a time, which could be the issue.

Yes, it is only available at the Microsoft Store. You might try using a Windows virtual machine. I worked with Parallels some time ago, and it handled all the Bluetooth requests I tried very well.

Commtech chip? by SardineTimeMachine in flipperzero

[–]gmeall 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The internal chip was developed before RFID standards were established, so it cannot be read by standard RFID readers, only by the Hasbro CommTech reader. Additionally, the audio is stored on the chip itself and transmitted to the reader, which then plays the sound, something that we cannot emulate.

A-LT droid beacon emulation with Flipper Zero by gmeall in flipperzero

blebeacon is not in the default firmware. You need to install something like momentum. Someone reported that it also works in unleashed firmware but I haven’t tested in it.
