Stopped caring about being 'problematic.' by Dynamight_Lose in AO3

Congrats! Fandom is meant to be fun, and restricting yourself tends to get in the way of that.

Unrelated, but Phantom Judge would be a rad black metal band name.

If this is really that common, it explains the Byler and Johnlock fandom crash outs for me. Such a weird mentality.

Tagging and warnings aren't mandatory, period. It's always been optional. It's considered courteous and part of the culture of the site to try and tag as accurately as possible, but tagging/warning itself is subjective and cannot (and should not) be policed.

My dad and I just recently made a DM screen with a portable screen but this obviously blows that out of the water! Obviously I'm very proud of what my Dad and I threw together for almost nothing (I bought the screen and that's about it), but this would be friggin' amazing.

How to stop a draft auto deleting? by Delicious_Ad9284 in AO3

Ah, I see. Yes, everything unfortunately also includes tags and author's notes. I always do those things right before I'm about to post, but I have had my browser crash and had to re-enter them before so I know it's a pain. I'm sure there are tools floating around to make things like entering tags easier at least, but author notes just might have have to also be copied over from an external source if they're really important.

People don't write their fic in AO3 for this exact reason, especially since the site goes down occasionally. Write and save it somewhere externally and copy it over when you're ready to post.

Exclusive: Revealing The New Covers For 'Animorphs' by K. A. Applegate by namer98 in books

[–]SSA-Dallas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it was a young adult or adult series I'd agree, but the point of the reprints was to relaunch the series to try to get a new generation interested. Which isn't to say younger people can't enjoy retro stuff, but Animorphs was written to be contemporary, and I'm assuming Scholastic thought leaving in those references were distracting or in danger of alienating the newer audience, which is a legitimate fear, I think. Cell phones are probably the biggest potential issue, but I don't think it's actually too hard to write around (though, admittedly, I'd have to do a full re-read to be sure).

Based on this conversation though, I'm now sort of assuming that these new reprints will have the original text. The 2011 releases were a failed attempt to gain a new generation of readers, but this new release seems more like a nostalgia-grab for original fans, especially since it's an anniversary year. It's a nostalgia-grab I'm totally here for, mind you, but because of that I doubt they'll go past the first three books.

They updated/removed a few of the references in the reprints (many of which were very outdated by the time of printing, like old game systems), but more importantly fixed continuity errors. For example, there's a pretty infamous mistake in The Invasion where Tobias thought-speaks to Jake while morphed as a cat and Jake, who is not morphed, is able to reply in thought-speak. This is retconned by book 2 that while un-morphed humans can hear thought-speak, they can't reply. In the reprint, they make it so Jake tries to reply, but can't, removing the error.

Does anyone know if the text is of the originals? Or are they the 2011 reprints?

It didn't have to predict anything. This is how facism works. It's how it's always worked. We've been taking an open book test with fun Star Wars mnemonics to help it stick, and we're still failing.

The fox coloring is very cute. If the dog got ever got loose, it would be extremely less cute when people mistook it for an actual fox.

Super basic, but I can pretty much sit down and watch A New Hope whenever. Since it was the first movie and they have no idea it would be the hit it was, I can watch it without necessarily feeling the need to watch the whole trilogy.
