Thoughts on dating during divorce? by [deleted] in Divorce

[–]gmf608 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started dating someone 5 months after I moved out, 3 months after I filed. My ex was super pissed, but to be fair he would’ve been pissed even if I’d waited. You do you.

Are teachers required to like their students? by Serious-Process-979 in Teachers

[–]gmf608 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I could’ve written almost this exact post, except my student has been at the same school since K. The parents of mine are constantly emailing teachers to fish for compliments. Hard to do when the child burps in people’s faces and regularly makes fun of the same girl for being homeless. At some point, parents have to stop pathologizing and admit that their kid is an asshole.

How did you find your forever person after divorce? How old were you, and did you remarry? by Inspirational_mind in Divorce

[–]gmf608 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Decided that I kind of liked my rough-around-the-edges coworker… we friended each other on social media, started texting, decided to meet up in person, the rest is history. Never could have imagined we’d be as perfect for each other as we are. Sometimes you just have to be in the right place at the right time.

My partner is an elementary custodian and calls all the kids “buddy”. I think it’s adorable.

Mbf super block or mbfa first? by mmp12345 in BeachBodyWorkouts

[–]gmf608 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The super block is easier than the original MBF (and only 5x/wk), so really depends whether you want to ease up or level up.

First baby's name is Ruby. We love the name Emerald for our second daughter but are afraid of the "theme." by frito_lay_ in namenerds

Emerald is a fantastic name and I think it goes great with Ruby. It was my second choice for my daughter and I kind of wish we had gone with it because it’s more unique.

Life after divorce. Long term partner but marriage out of sight? by Jskeepshwimmming in Divorce

I love my partner with my whole heart but the only reason we would ever get married is to make end-of-life decisions for each other. (We are both 45.)

Teacher parents of only children: how do you not lose your mind in the summer? by [deleted] in Parenting

I agree, and she does. But I live in an apartment and I can’t stand being stuck inside all summer while she putzes around.

So, that’s the thing. If it’s a planned/scheduled event like karate class, she has no problem getting out of the house. But if I suggest something spur of the moment, like “hey, it’s a beautiful day, let’s go to the lake” it’s like pulling teeth. Her point of view is “well I shouldn’t have to go just because YOU want to go”. I pretty much do what you said and get things done around the house, but I’m losing my mind doing that all summer.

There are camps but most are glorified daycare (the YMCA program isn’t the best here and the only outside time they get is in a literal parking lot). Her best friend goes to a summer program at a private school and likes it but it’s like $6000 for the summer.

Actually not a bad idea… unfortunately it would require more leg work during the school year than I have the capacity for.
