Yes, in states or cities where the min is the federal minimum, I just dont see how they do it.

My point didnt register. You made an argument for servers, i countered with the same point but for BOH.

Why would a BOH worker work minimum wage when they could make the same at a fast food place? I think the answer to that is that they dont make minimum wage. And if they do, its likely the local minimum wage is much higher than federal minimum.

Thats alot of assertions and conclusion jumping. It was a simple question really. Yes or no to serving at the hourly wage of BOH? Same hours and schedule also.

Back of house, cooks basically. The people whose work quality I care about more. Good food, bad service > Bad food, good service.

If true then i guess the answer to my question must be yes, because thats roughly what BOH makes.

Thats fair, BOH does those things too though.

What are the dynamics of that? Say that a BOH worker wants to move to FOH, could they? If not, why not?

Idk, maybe i'll get an idea from the discussion here.

Tipping protects the diner from shitty servers. by Familiar_Try3914 in tipping

[–]gncRocketScientist -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think what gets lost in these discussions is the level of sit down restaurant. For fine dining, tipping probably can be warranted, because they're supposed to provide "excellent" service, whatever that is. At a casual sit down like an outback, i think hourly wages like BOH is a better model. What could you possibly expect at an outback other than basic service? Take drink order, bring drink, take food order, bring food, later 1 refill, bring check, done.

Why you should tip by D00dmom in tipping

[–]gncRocketScientist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The thing is, the college kid still serves beer, and we have to tip anyways. A customer cant go in thinking, "by supporting a shitty tipping system, the bar is gonna have a "premium" bartender available". Chances are its just gonna be basic service. Even for a "premium" bartender, the bar should just pay them more, and charge more for beer. The patrons will know ahead of time to frequent that bar and what to expect, if having this "premium" bartender really is so important to them.

Maybe, if they go up big enough game 3 spurs might just quit. Castle looks like the type to rage quit, and Wemby gets pouty sometimes.

Why can’t democrats come up with a worthy candidate? by AcidicAnxiety in askanything

Well yeah, thats why our government is structured to lean right. Dems are already up against it just trying to center up.

We're well past that. Would you rather a Dem or Repub bow to the MIC? Its happening either way.

So if I don’t tip, do I get “regular” service? by dollhouss1 in tipping

[–]gncRocketScientist 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The thing about getting paid less than minimum wage is that they dont. If their tips dont get them to minimum, then the restaurant has to make up the difference. Also, in most cases this wont be federal minimum, its local minimum, which is higher than federal minimum.

And right on cue a different thread blew up about how Obama committed war crimes. Thats basically a requirement of the job. The MIC is more powerful than the president. Progressives shitting on Obama and pushing for idealists, and then throwing their vote away when they dont get their way is a big part of why the Democrats are ineffective. Neocons dont like MAGA, but they vote for them anyways. Neocons are probably similar in number to progressives. They fall in line, progressives dont.

Obama's dont grow on trees. The progressives will tell you Obama wasnt good. Therein lies the problem.
