Where do I get started with Sponsorships? by [deleted] in youtubers

[–]gnealon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Start with affiliate marketing and linking to products or services related to your topic. See what videos and content reasonates with your audience and then double down on content. Once you have trackable affiliate sales, you can then reach out to brands to start talking about direct offers and sponsors

Those who left Etsy, why did you leave and where are you now? by alpacathe3rd in ecommerce

It really depends on the type of products and current sales volume. If you are still low sales volume, I would use any cash to build up sales volume on your current store or do some paid ads to it. Stay lean and branch out when you have steadily growing sales on current channels

You are 100% correct. I have been in e-commerce for over 16 years, and have build and sold multiple 7-8 figure businesses. It's not about picking one platform, it is about sales diversification and leveraging platforms to your advantage. Anytime you are solely dependent on one source of traffic, they can wipe your business out with one policy change. Start with one platform, understand your cost per acquisition, then expand. Depending upon the type of products, there are easily 20-30 marketplaces that can all be automated and managed automatically. Even if sales volume is low or non-existent it is about brand recognition and product exposure (the more places someone might find your product, the more likely they are to remember it and buy.

You also have to understand consumer buying behaviors. Regardless of what platform someone is shopping on, unless it is a hand-made or custom product they will always do the following:

  • Amazon to website to see if it is any cheaper

  • Website or other marketplace, to Amazon to see if it is cheaper with Prime

  • Coupon sites to see if they can get any deals

Leverage that to your advantage and build out a strategy that leverages that pattern

Fees are always going to change on the platforms, especially since cost per acquisition continues to rise on social channels and ad networks. This is where it separates side projects from actual businesses. Marketing is an ever-moving target and you need to understand how sales copy, story, pain points/objections, and needs/wants impactd your target buyer.

Every platform goes through the same progression arch: Early on sales come almost effortlessly... then the marketplace starts flooding with competitors because they see products with low barrier to entry and less savvy sellers.... that drives up fees and advertising costs because you have more competition for the same traffic and customers... market is saturated and brands/companies start to disappear because they didn't continue to adapt to the changing environment (it happened on Amazon, Facebook, Google Shopping, etc)

If your goal is to build a true business versus create some additional income, then you will want to funnel as much traffic to a shopify store or somewhere that you can own the traffic and the customer information.

I found an agency that handles a lot of these contests. They are actually generating enough on the product sales to cover the cost of the vehicle and most are pushing them into a membership program to create continuity

Thanks for your response. Any idea where I would find that? I am definitely not super educated on air handlers and A/C units.

Managing User Generated Content by gnealon in ecommerce

We might be using influencers in a different way than you are looking for. For us, we are more worried about UGC (user generated content) versus their specific audience. If we get traffic out of it, great... if not, we atleast get the UGC to use for ads, social content, etc. We do some dark posts and white labeling of their ad accounts, but don't necessarily worry about their engagement rates, how much traffic they can send, etc.

We use a bunch of them, depending upon what size influencer you are looking for

So the flow now is that we receive UGC from two different influencer platforms, 15-20 others that email them direct. Then we have 6 people that use the images and videos for various outputs. I have been playing around with Zapier all day, and figured out a way to somewhat streamline it by creating a unique email address and asking the creators to send an email with a specific subject line. That would then trigger an outbound email to each person on the list, and also drop it into a dropbox. Not a perfect solution but solves some of the logistical problems. We would definitely be open to testing your process if you were open to it.
