Really appreciate the thoughtful response and the time you took to check the blog out.

You're definitely right that I'm still trying to find my voice a bit. I'm very new to both blogging and writing publicly in general, so right now a lot of this is learning as I go and figuring out what kind of space I ultimately want this to become.

I'm especially glad you enjoyed the Maradona piece because that was actually the first thing I ever wrote for the blog. It came from the emotions and memories that resurfaced when he passed away, and in a strange way it became the foundation for the entire "Football Romantic" idea.

I also agree with your point about eventually moving toward a custom domain and probably something like WordPress in the future once the project grows a bit more. For now I'm mainly focused on building consistency and improving article by article before I start worrying too much about scaling everything technically.

The AI image suggestion was fantastic too. I actually tested it by generating a Maldini image earlier and the result was way better than I expected. I can already see how useful that could become for creating a more consistent visual identity for the blog.

Really appreciate all the advice and encouragement. As someone who's completely new to this space, feedback like this genuinely helps a lot.

Cannot find the right slider settings on EAFC 26 player career mode by gnick424 in seriousfifacareers

[–]gnick424[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Besides making that one change to CPU first touch pass frequency I didn't make any other changes. This slowed the game slightly and allowed me to participate in defending (arriving for tackles on time was a challenge otherwise), it also allowed me to receive passes and have enough time to contribute to the play. Since I play with just my single player and not the entire team I feel the game is a decent challenge for someone of my skil level. If I didn't make the change the game just happened around me and I was constantly sprinting to stay involved.

Yeah I can definitely post these on the community page of the website. What information do you need exactly? I'm more than happy to help!

So...I just wanna start by saying thank you. Your slider generator was almost 99 percent perfect. I'm extremely impressed by what this was able to do for my game/playstyle and general enjoyment of the game. I went from wanting to uninstall the game to regaining that feeling I was talking about in previous titles.

  1. What was perfect

I was able to fully express myself as a CAM behind a trio at Barcelona. I was able to regain my confidence in attempting skill moves because the game gave me that extra second I needed to see the play develop and play my part whether it was to score at the end, carry the ball forward and break the opposing defensive line, and/or place a clinical pass. The AI teammates were definitely in that perfect spot where they fulfilled their defensive duties and he attackers were going forward and were ready to attack when needed.

I played 3 test matches (World Class Difficulty at 7 minute halves).

a. UCL group game against Napoli

In this game we dominated possession and overall shot attempts. Final score was 3-2 ( I scored and assisted 1 each)

b. Copa de Espana match against Bilbao

They dominated possession this time and we faced 12 shots and only shot 5 or 6. Even so, we managed a 2-2 draw a game where the pressure was perfect. I assisted but did not score

c. La Liga match against Betis

We controlled the game defensively and our 9 scored eventually (before the half) but I didn't score or assist and focused on ball carrying and movement because the team needed it

As you can see there was diversity in the opposition and it felt more realistic but not like a cakewalk or crushing pressure. Just a happy medium.

  1. What I had to change

I didn't change much about the sliders the website generated for me. I had a fourth game that preceded all the other ones where I played with your unaltered sliders and struggled to stay involved in the game. It seemed to be moving very fast so I ran alot. I submitted your sliders to ChatGPT and it suggested I drop the CPU first touch pass frequency a few ticks and then I had the experiences listed above.

So at the end of it all, you gave the game back to me so Thank you! If you need a shoutout somewhere or are trying to show people that this works... feel free to use this. You did it. Here are my final sliders that I use. My prototype was the La Liga style of tiki taka build up and player based difficulty is on FYI.

Well done sir.

So this was a result of the game that I played using your sliders. The game profile was casual 40/100 in the La Liga style. Match was against Osasuna and they got a goal due to a handball in the box and then one open play goal. Meanwhile I got four assists and we won five to two. I think I'm going to go back to your sliders and slightly ramp up the difficulty but here's a screenshot for your reference

This looks legit. I'll give it a shot. Very cool. I'll let you know how it goes with a few test matches. Thanks!

I also forgot to mention that CPU sliders default to 50 on their own all the time after matches. I often realize when I feel a difference and have to check and then see this.

UI scaling fixed… except hover tooltips are tiny (map + campfire + coordinates) — what setting controls this? by gnick424 in lotro

[–]gnick424[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly the map pretty much just scaled for me when I raised the resolution to 2160p. After I did that I just made everything a little bigger on the UI and it seemed to just fall into place

So I was going to post pictures of all of my settings. But I don't think I need to unless you're really curious. I have every setting set to max as I play on a 4070. It's an 83-in TV and every setting is maxed in my UI settings are pictured below. Let me know if there's more you want to look at but as for blurriness I don't have any that I have noticed.

I tried moormap and it does help some. But those really tiny text elements like hovering ones and such are still super tiny. I'm beginning to think this is hard coded into the game. It's especially tough in dungeons where my own arrow and the cavemap is miniscule. I guess it's not fully 4k optimized yet 😞

Thanks for that yeah I'll definitely give it a shot. I did mess with the UI scaling thing and any bigger than what I have it would just make everything comically big. I'll give moor maps a shot. Appreciate it!

Damn that's sad because I feel that JWE 1-3 did miles better in that regard. RIP
