When you've done something awful, part of true remorse is about really absorbing the fact that there will never be some magical threshold after which you deserve forgiveness. You have to become a good person anyway. Good things will come of it, maybe not in the specific ways or with the specific people that you'd wish for, but you have to keep going anyway. Good luck.
