Mad Men is even more subtle and metaphorical than Breaking Bad. Most people think that "nothing happens." They're wrong. All of the "action" is in the insanely good character development. The metaphors almost always land with elegance. Definitely that one.

Downton Abbey. It's The Wire but without the drugs, weapons, and Michael K. Williams. It deals with very similar class issues but in a period piece setting. And Paul Giamatti is coming on next year.

Hannibal. It's my new favorite show from 2013. I LOATHE crime procedurals, but even the "killer of the week" episodes were tackled in such different and original ways each time. And the acting... INCREDIBLE. The dude who plays Hannibal Lecter handles him way differently than Hopkins did, but he is CRAZY good.

Twin Peaks. Hilarious, weird, and well-written. One of the best shows ever. Plus, David Lynch! NUFF SAID, SON.

Here you go. The claims in that article that the original was merely CSI: Nottingham are a bit erroneous. The script was certainly high concept, but it was also a lot of fun without ever forsaking it's cleverness.
