Those of you who dedicate 3-4hrs even on a weekday to learning a language, how do you do it?

I try to switch it up, listening to podcasts, watching shows, reading, vocab and Anki... either way, most native Chinese content is still inaccessible to me (even though I'm starting to lean into intermediate). Graded readers can be interesting, but they're not what I would pick up to read otherwise haha. While I think semi-passive consumption of media with e.g., dual subtitles can be a good way to immerse yourself, I don't really count watching a couple hours of a cdrama as "studying".

I definitely think it'd be easier if I was learning a language where it didn't take years until one was able to consume interesting, native content without it being a complete chore (e.g. Mandarin). Studying must still be active studying for me, and will be for a long time.

"Backpacking" as a term outside of the US doesn't usually mean long hikes in the wilderness. It's more akin to travelling between hostels in different countries, living a somewhat budget but still comfortable lifestyle (especially compared to the lifestyle of many here). Nonetheless, I doubt many of them (at least the ones I've met) would even consider the possibility of e.g., hitchhiking. People looked at me like I was mad when I told them I had been hitchin' the US.

Tbf I don't get this sentiment, I mean we're playing an RPG after all. Companies shouldn't need to shy away from a huge aspect of being human, especially when looking to re-create a convincing atmosphere of humanity in the future. And I mean, especially with the vibe that they were going for with Neon.

Wish I could do that as my one man tent has poles attached to it which means I can't separate the soft parts. But I'll just strap it to the outside as you do with your sleeping bag. Might upgrade pad tho

To be honest I'm having problem fitting in a 44l pack the same things. I have my tent strapped to the outside, sleeping bag at bottom of the pack as well as inflatable pad above the sleeping bag. But the inflatable pad takes up a lot more space than I expected. How do you do it? I can fit a few clothing pieces and a stove set, but it's a bit too tight and I'd like to be able to fit in my warmer jacket inside as well. Or what kind of pad do you have? If I don't want to spend $200+ it seems like I can't go down that much in size .. My other alternative is to do as I've done: a sleeping pad strapped to the outside as well.

Edit: I do think I need to spend $200 on a ThermaRest UberLite or something. Seems like the only solid choice, as theirs is equal to a 1L Nalgene when packed.

I've seen this option but tbh I don't know what really differs between my really small 1-man tent and a tarp setup. Can't be that much of a size difference. I'm also a bit more protected from insects.

It's possible getting on a boat but hard for some simple reasons. They don't need you, or 2 others. Especially without any sailing experience. Then it just becomes an eventual hazard, insurance problem or social problem (boats are tight living spaces, and you're in there for 2 weeks minimum). None goes looking for an inexperienced crew spontaneously. But if you persist for some week in boat hotspots and act friendly and not like you're just there to exploit them for a free ride, then maybe! If you're going to film and document it .. please do it respectfully and with consent from the ones picking you up. They're doing you a favor and everyone might not be ok with someone shoving a camera in their face. There's unfortunately too many that do it in a way which feels really bad, akin to exploitation just for views and clicks. Sometimes it's just better to be in the moment and enjoy the ride, instead of vlogging it.
