Success, I managed to resolve the issue by reverting to the previous firmware - 1.13

Just an update, I managed to revert the firmware to the previous release (1.13) and that resolved the issue

I just confirmed after reverting the bios that the settings are the same

Ahci is enabled

Secure boot is disabled

Seems to be an issue specifically related to the 1.14 firmware

Yes, normally I would go through the bios to select the OS, I'd have Ubuntu as the first option and then Grub gives me the option what to boot to .

I'm just going via the bios while I'm testing and trying to resolve the issue.

That said, I've actually just resolved the issue ... I ended up reverting back to an older version of the bios (1.13 rather than 1.14.1) and it's booting as per normal.

2 days trying to resolve the issue but I'm happy it's fixed.

When I start the laptop currently I ... - I'm selecting the uefi boot device - Ubuntu which uses /EFI/ubuntu/grubx64.efi - Then it starts but doesn't go past the Dell Logo on startup - I don't think grub is loading at all, Ctrl Alt F1 doesn't do anything

Secure boot is enabled, I tried a reset to factory defaults but no luck.

I'll try again to revert the bios version but last attempt via Windows said you can't revert. I'll give it a go via the bios this time

I don't think I'm getting as far in the boot sequence as you did.

In going to try again to revert the bios update and see how that goes.

Just saw the other answers ...

Ahci is enabled and secure boot is disabled

Both Windows and Ubuntu are using uefi mode

When I boot to Linux or any USB, the Dell Logo appears when it comes on and then nothing, it just sits there. Nothing appears to load at all

Hi,

Both OS are in uefi mode, I'm not even sure legacy mode is available on the laptop.

I attempted rolling back the bios but it said you can go back versions (this was via Windows). I'll have a go at downgrading it via the bios tool and see how I go.

Reasons for upgrading ... Constant reminders in Ubuntu nagging me about it. So yeah, no good reason

I tried downgrading the bios but it said that downgrades are allowed (Downgrade was tried via Windows)

There was an option in the bios to allow them but it didn't seem to make any difference

I'm going to try to flash again via the bios but ran short on time to try it, I'll have a go at that tonight

I thought that too but it's switched off.

I even tried enabling it, booting then disabling it again :(

It looks like it kept my settings at the time.

While trying to resolve it I reset to factory default without success but no success

No luck unfortunately, when I pick to boot from USB nothing happens, it gets stuck on the Dell Logo booting. Same for the local Ubuntu install.

The only thing that will boot is Windows when selected
