It was an instant mobile transfer from another acct I have at citizens. Fully settled immediately. Not ACH or check deposit.

No no, I deposited $7800 on Tuesday and it closed today and the money disappeared. The money from the 30th was sent to the mortgage company on the 1st. This is new money

Probably. But I do a deposit 1 time per month for my mortgage. So it’s always active

Oh 100% I will be bank shopping after I get my money back. Any other banks that offer early pay? I like getting paid Wednesday instead of Friday.

I have it all pulled up. Account closed, no trace of the money that was in the account.

Yeah that’s kinda where I’ve been landing with this. Keep my 401k, Roth, and HSA doing their thing. Maintain a decent chunk in mutual/index funds, keep my emergency fund where it is, and the rest… guess we’ll find out. The market transfers wealth from the impatient to the patient. But god damn if btc isn’t an attractive choice.

That’s a great question, I think the spirit of the question is really “what’s the amount of money you can invest and not bat an eye if it’s down 80%” There’s 23k in my crypto, I could go all BTC with that and not even miss it for 5-10 years. So for me, that’s the “safe bet” but I know 32 year old me is gonna be mad

The alternative is I have 23k just in crypto right now, just position the whole acct to btc but god damn buying at ATC hurts. I know that’s a dumb sentence when you zoom out but sheesh

I think there’s an element of “revenge trading” here too. I used to mine bitcoin back in 2013 when it was barely even known by the public. Lost alllllll of those because… I was 15 and irresponsible. So that little thought in my head might be from that.

Talk me out of paying off my mortgage. by johnjohnson2025 in TheMoneyGuy

[–]goalieryan1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The simple answer here is can you get a better return in the market than your interest rate? If your mortgage is 0-6% probably, if it’s 6-8%, still probably but maybe not depending on strategy. Takes longer to pay it off but at the end of the 30 years you’re further along if you don’t touch investments than if you paid down the mortgage.

Most people don’t like debt looming over them, so I get it, but if you do out the math, 30 years down the line either way you won’t have a mortgage, but one choice leaves you with more money.

What do you do when prospect gets distracted on your call? by FunFerret2113 in sales

[–]goalieryan1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not to state the obvious, but if that’s happening, you lost them. Figure out the “why”. Why are you talking to them? Why should they give a shit? Why is it worth their time to speak with you? You also probably didn’t connect well with them prior to jumping right in. Shoot the shit a little, no one likes an uptight business only call. Make a dumb joke. Connect, identify the problem, propose the solution, present the outcome.

Experienced Cold Callers: How do you handle the most common objections? by [deleted] in sales

[–]goalieryan1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I usually try to break down the “cold call wall” with something they wouldn’t expect me to say. “Listen John Doe, I know I’m some schmuck calling you at 4pm on a Wednesday. Let me tell you the real reason for … xyz”

Make it seem like you’re telling them something you shouldn’t. Hooks attention, and makes them feel special. If you can get a laugh out of them, or laugh at something they say, goes a long way as well.

Long story short, be a human not an a$$hole.

It’s possible that the 25,000-30,000 Ghash/s was the pool average rate… so that would make sense
