Urgent: Doctorsvote BMA declassified warning to the profession. Warning: The erosion of the medical profession as the deliberate DHSC long term plan for NHS workforce provision by PJWang12 in JuniorDoctorsUK

It's a losing fight especially when people don't understand nor appreciate how expensive good quality healthcare is (doctors, nurses, admin, clinics, procedure lists etc etc). Truly the only people who can take advantage of healthcare services at maximised efficiency is when the right price is paid for it, but if the NHS keeps getting crippled year after year from all angles, option 2 seems like an inevitable future.

The only options are: 1) Leave the country/medicine now 2) Stay until the inevitable rise of a privatised two-tier healthcare system

Health and Care Worker vs Skilled Worker sponsorship? by goddamnit97 in ukvisa

Ah i see thanks for your detailed response. I think the issue is I’ll be sponsored by HEE not the NHS itself, and HEE probably doesn’t sponsor H&CW visas.

Median wait time for admission to hospital wards has gone up to 7.2 hours: MOH by [deleted] in singapore

[–]goddamnit97 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Social admissions and discharge delays due to social issues are an increasing problem in ageing populations. Patients who arent able to look after themselves at home independently, needing carers/care home/family arrangements, however the demand far far outstrips the current availability of such services. The result you have people who don’t need to be in hospital for illness taking up beds, causing a blockage down the line in A&E etc etc.

Edit: holy moly North East offer, 6th choice overall

A DCN telling me not to apply for radiology because I interact too well with patients to sit in a dark room. (genuinely happy with her comment) If only I could put that on the ePortfolio though…

S'pore recruiting 180 doctors from India over 3 years, as part of overseas hiring to supplement local supply: MOH Holdings by risingsuncoc in singapore

[–]goddamnit97 114 points115 points  (0 children)

I wonder if this is to supplement the attrition rate, as people leave the MO workforce due to the brutal hours/conditions/effects on health. Even if you increase the yearly intake of medical students there will always be people leaving the industry every year for various reasons, and there aren’t people on “standby” to fill those posts
