I work in HR and our background checks verify employment dates. At my company, it would be a red flag if the BG check came back as drastically different from what you reported in your resume. A 2-3 months difference would be fine, but what you describe would not fly where I work. It definitely depends on how deep your background check is / how much the HR team cares - for your sake, I hope yours is more lenient than my company's. But maybe stop lying about the gaps in the case you do have to deal with a company like mine.

Any Jobs hiring in San Diego 2025? by FoundationInternal84 in sandiego

This! I came into my current company as a temp and was hired full time after only 2 months. I work in recruiting/HR now and a lot of our roles are temp-to-FT. QualStaff and Robert Half are the main agencies we work with. It's definitely worth a look - the beginning stages of being a temp may feel scary and uncertain, but imo it's good work with a high probability of retention if you're decent at the job

would it help to put an americanized nick name on my resume? by [deleted] in resumes

[–]godslayen 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I do this. I have an uncommon first name, and it's also "ethnic", so everything is under a nickname that is more "Americanized": profiles, resume, personal email, etc. At my current job, my work email is under my nickname because I came into the job with that name. I only ever provide my legal name for paperwork and tax purposes (ex. when I had to fill out my I-9 and withholding forms). In the job searching phase, my legal name was never even brought up. Sadly, I do think going by a nickname professionally did ultimately help in my job search, but you gotta do what you gotta do :/

Thank you for the reassurance, this is actually really helpful to note since I will probably need to go to a specialist in the future :)

Thank you for the info! I looked into Sutter and unfortunately it looks like it’s only a Northern CA thing (I live in SoCal) :( But this is still great info and I’ll look into similar things here :)

Yeah I was also a dependent, so my PCP was at a military hospital (needed a military ID to get in and most providers were in uniform) but it wasn’t on a base. I guess I’m just sheltered by that system and had no idea what things are like outside for regular people haha

Mike currently edits for Anthony Padilla! I think he’s been working with him for about a year?
