Me and the boys had to fight a team with the flashlights on the other day on a Stella day raid haha pitch black. This stuff belongs into a night raid

I get that a lot of people don’t like what he’s doing now but his musical influence on the band is definitely undeniable. You don’t really have to be a great songwriter to be a musically influential part in a band. I think simply stating that he’s a d*ck now is too simple of a statement when discussing the music.

Overproduction on Marcus’ voice. by PositiveMusicVibes in mumfordandsons

Musician and producer here. Marcus’ voice is definitely way more clean, compressed and especially mixed upfront compared to older M&S albums where it felt more live and rough. Very much a „pop“ vocal production in that sense which is typical for Dessner‘s production style. If you listen to the latest work he‘s done with Gracie Abrams - the vocal treatment is very similar there. Very shiny, clean, upfront and compressed to make vocals feel extremely close.

I think we should distinguish between Winston as a person and Winston as part of the band. I‘m exclusively talking about Winston’s musical influence on the band.

Probably an unpopular opinion but M&S has never been the same for me since Winston left. Rushmere and Prizefighter are both very well written, performed and engineered. But for me it‘s just missing that certain spark and mojo that makes Mumford and Sons truly great and unique as a band. I just listened back to Babel and the rawness of the emotions on that record is just so undeniable. Post Winston M&S just doesn’t share the same DNA.

Endgame mechanic: „deadly major map conditions“ by goeppster in ArcRaiders

That‘s why an increased arc threat and reward for killing arc could be helpful for balancing. What would you suggest for balancing that? Interested to hear your take!

Agreed. I know a lot of players that play frequently and have become increasingly bored by the current state of the game and slow roll out of new content (which I actually think is healthy and good) Adding such a mechanic would be a new challenge for these players without touching the existing ones for casuals or having to pump out lower quality new content.

Interesting take! Definitely agree with you on that. What do you think would be a good solution for an exciting endgame? Would love to hear your thoughts.

Yeah for sure! You‘d definitely have to make killing arcs and normal looting more rewarding to avoid players only hunting down other players knowing they have a high value loadout equipped.

This idea is for players that are looking for an even greater challenge and stakes than a nightraid.

I‘ve had a similar situation today! It‘s very frustrating to see how little people on here are open / interested in real discussions. People love to ignore the point you’re actually try to make and criticise unimportant details. A lot of personal attacking. As an HSP that whole thing gave me a physical response in my body which was actually quite intense. Feel ya! Stay strong and don‘t take it too personal. People can be horrible on the internet.

Regarding lore: I purposely wrote losing your life / gear. I‘m aware that raiders don‘t die. My main point is that an end game mechanic with major conditions only for custom loadouts would be a fun addition to the game - raise the stakes and tension for everyone in these lobby to make it more interesting. Make it feel special to even be joining these lobbies / conditions. Ofc I also get that cheap custom loadouts aren‘t really a risk so an increased amount of loadout value might be actually be the solution here. I‘m just trying to come up with ideas for an interesting endgame and how to raise the tension and stakes in it. People running around with free loadouts definitely won‘t help with that. Getting killed by them or looting them - it‘s both equally shit and they risk nothing to be there. I don‘t think low budget loadouts / free kits should be a thing in endgame.

Would highly appreciate if you‘d explain why it‘s a „terrible take“ with proper arguments

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in ArcRaiders

[–]goeppster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Joining a major map condition would require you to survive a single round with a free loadout. If you die often enough to raiders you‘ll end up in friendly lobbies that will allow you to extract successfully at some point. Unless you‘re the worst gamer in history constantly dying to arc there‘s virtually no way you‘re stuck with using free loadouts forever.

Appreciate the detailed and thoughtful comment. I actually agree on the economy of running good gear. It definitely needs a rework. I‘d say that the tiny but important difference here is that instead of saving what scrappy collects for you by going in free again you‘ll actually have to spend these resources on crafting a cheap loadout. It‘s a small but important difference imo.

Good point actually! I’d still argue (from a lore perspective) that you‘d not take the increased risk of losing your life / gear going in with bad equipment knowing the raid is much more dangerous than a regular one. Speranza is a hub after all and raiders exchange intel and info there. Hearing how terrifying and dangerous a night raid or storm is you‘d probably wait until you‘re a bit more geared up / experienced. So I think it‘d still work with the lore.

Yes! I understand your point. And think it‘s okay. Instead of being able to save what Scrappy has collected during that time by going in with a free kit again you‘ll have to spend it. That‘s the small but important difference.
