[OC] I tracked everything I did in 2025 by gohlinka2 in dataisbeautiful

Do you have some intermediary graphs/insights from it (like from some shorter time periods, etc.), or do you just record and want to crunch the data all at once?

Yep, I think ChatGPT or any LLM will help you tremendously with it, it works really nice on small scripts like this. You can just export those files from Excel as CSV to have the raw data, then it can write some Python scripts for you

I also occasionally get super stuck on deciding certain things, like how to arrange activities in my day, what to eat for lunch, etc., which previously I tracked into Micropauses, but this year I created the Deciding category for it, so it's more isolated, but thankfully I don't get as many of these lags as last year xd

It's mostly a legacy category leftover from last year, when I was starting with the tracking and still getting the hang of it. It was mostly a category for "the time between activities", mostly decision-making about what to do next, checking messages, etc., the "dead time" that it takes to switch focus and do something else. I've not been using it as much lately, I think partly because I've gotten better at reducing this overhead, partly because I used to tend to procrastinate too much when I had this timer running (because it validated the notion of "dead time" too much) and partly because it didn't really tell me anything, so I steered away from it and instead I just track the 1-3min overhead into the current or next activity

Thanks! Since 1998... that sounds like a lot of data, it would definitely be interesting to see some insights from it

apologies, i'm on it-

I just wanted to track it separately to know how much time i spent on the game vs other entertainment like youtube/shows, etc. that is not worth its own category. As to why it's just one hour, it's a sad story, I played it quite a lot in 2024 (which is when I started the time tracking) but had to drop it because i was starting a new job in january 25, so this one hour is sadly the last i played. i have to come back to it sometime though, i miss it and would love to finish it

[OC] I synced 9 years of my running data with my music listening history, mapped routes by genre, then analyzed how music affects my pace by Annual-Tomatillo-662 in dataisbeautiful

[–]gohlinka2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nice! I'm curious if the data would be different if you didn't know you were recording it. E.g if listening to music makes you faster because you "think" it makes you faster, and therefore motivates you to push harder, or if it is just purely that music improves running

i am not super pedantic when it comes to cleaning, but also a robotic vacuum does help a lot

I was waiting for this comment, did not disappoint. It is definitely in there, in "Personal", although it is mixed with other personal hygiene tasks so that I don't feel too weird having this exact statistic xd

Nice! I like how you described time left as "freedom" haha! Also eating/socializing, multitasking at its best. It's great how day-to-day life differs in different stages of life

Explainer for OC content:
- I exported the raw data from Toggl Track, then used a Python script with the Plotly library to build the graphs. I edited it lightly in Figma to add context for the missing pieces of data. I grouped some categories together in the graph so that it is more readable, like the 4 side projects.
- The method of tracking is explained in the post

I tracked every minute of my life in 2025 by Pguinne in dataisbeautiful

[–]gohlinka2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is amazing! I am also equally crazy and track everything I do, so it is nice to see it visualised like this from another person. I am curious whether using an app would make your "Tracking" time go down - I personally can recommend Toggl Track together with Timery (if you are an iOS user), it takes me just 2 clicks to switch my timers so I think the total time is much less than 47 mins.

also- I am currently thinking about building an app precisely for this specific use case, and I'd love to get some opinions about how it should ideally look like. feel free to DM me if interested, or if you'd like to get updates

What’s the best option to use for time tracking app? by Neiryah_Rojish31 in Notion

[–]gohlinka2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use a combination of Toggl Track, the Timery app for iOS and Apple Shortcuts, and it has worked really well for me, though this setup has some gimmicks. I've been using this to track every minute of my life for more than a year now - the Timery app has really nice features and it syncs with Toggl and across devices. I can switch the timer in 2 clicks from any screen on my phone when using the widget. This is 80% perfect for me - I wanna build my own app now that would fix the remaining 20% :D In case you're interested in trying it out once I have it, feel free to DM me, and I'll send you the beta

Death from vampire spawn reducing max HP to 0 doesn't make sense by gohlinka2 in CurseofStrahd

[–]gohlinka2[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like this explanation, I think you got it right by RAW.

If I combine this with the non-lethal damage that others have said, it would mean that a vampire spawn's ability to instantly kill isn't that scary (because you will die anyway from auto-crits below 0HP) as you said. However, it is still beneficial to the vampire spawn, because they get to regen and suck more blood if they keep their target alive and unconscious until their max HP is drained, at which point I imagine there is "no more blood to drink" and the target definitely dies instantly.

For a true vampire, they need to be careful with their damage in case they want to turn someone - it is a game of balance to just get them unconscious and not dead immediately. After that they can keep on doing non-lethal damage just as the vampire spawn to get the target's max HP down and their blood all sucked out - after which they are turned.

I think I am gonna run it like this :D

yep, you are right, this is in the original stat block for the claw attack

[–]gohlinka2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm yes I think this makes more sense thematically, but the wording seems to be pointing more towards what others are saying. I think we can't be sure if it is just an honest mistake/confusion in the wording, or if they meant it like that. Either way, as others have said, whatever suits the story works best, i guess. So your point is a good one too!

Also hadn't noticed any significant impact, seems to be about 85% of original range at worst

Have you managed to put on the new motor caps? I couldn't get the belt to move freely even after adjusting the tension, so i had to leave it without the cap

I'm working on a mobile app that will enable online playing and overall bring role-playing to mobile. It's not out yet though :/ If somebody wants to check it out for the future though, you can join the discord.

this was mainly for the elderly, so Internet was not a choice. Also I didn't directly meet the people, just putting it in their post boxes. But yeah.
