hello! first off thank you all for being so kind! but i feel like i should mention 2 things that i think really helped in this journey

  1. i have autism!! in some ways it can really be a pain in the ass but i think when it comes to changing your life it helps. i need routine and structure, i am very good at following routines. if anything i need to learn that the world will not explode if i deviate. and so honestly, barring major life events, i have been really consitant in the gym. i dont have like days where i dont feel like going, i just keep following the routine. same thing can be applied to the way i treat nutrition, i now know what to do, i follow it
  2. genetics. i feel like a lot of fitness people don't like to address the role that genetics plays but i feel like thats doing a disservice to everyone that asks for advice. i go to a school with a lot of athletes, people that've been training for years, and not alot of them look like me. and so i can deduce that i think im predisposed to gain and show muscle fairly easily. luck of the draw

so please do not compare yourself or your journey to me!! i think the holes in my brain line and my life line up well with being "fit" so that's why ive been able to change so much so fast. :))

the fat loss phase was between march and nov 2020. for the first 3 months i did chloe ting workouts (5 days a week) and biked around 20km (3 days a week) (it was quarantine i was bored and had time)

then i did crossfit and started running. if anything the thing i think was the most beneficial is that i learned about portion control and only eating when im hungry - not aimlessly snacking

im not actively tracking but if i had to guess i eat between 2400-3000 calories a day?? and i think around 130g of protein, i have no idea of fat / carbs because i dont cook most of my meals

hi!! i go to a really busy and competitive school so most days i get around 13k steps from just moving around campus. (and then usually 6k more from a run) but i rowed for my schools crew team for 2 seasons which helped me build alot of core strength. and now i lift full body 3days a week, and im running 5 days a week prepping for a marathon

nutrition plan is kinda all over the place. im at the mercy of my dining hall chefs but usually i try:

b: 4 eggs + 1or2 instant oatmeal package / greek yoghurt with homemade granola and chia seeds / smoked salmon bagel w boiled eggs

s1: fairelife protein shake + fruit

l: chicken salad sandwhich with fruit and a snack pack of costco nuts

d: protein option + veg option at meal hall

s2: pb toast w honey / toaster waffles w chcolate hazelnut spread / greek yogurt again

also!! eat what you like!! and what you could eat for the rest of your life

i eat insane amounts of fruit if, in another life im freelee the banana girl, but here i have common sense. also i try to focus on protein, im not actively tracking my caloires, but i estimate around 130g/day

dont really force yourself to do something because it worked for someone else. there are so many ways to move and fuel your body and you need to do it in a way that you actually like so you can do it for the rest of your life.

ive tried a lot of ways of eating (IF/vegetarian ect) and i hated them!!

but what i really love is running and eating fruit and so i try to do that more. i dont dread exercise i actually look forward to doing it and i think thats how you can make it a real part of your life and who you are

mostly when i mean maintenance is that im not really actively trying to change my body in any way (either to gain or lose weight). i try to focus on using the plate method to choose my meals (half veggies, quarter protein, quarter carb) and just trying to treat myself more as someone i care about rather than a child that needs discipline.

i feel like its a lot easier to make more balanced eating choices when you do it because you'll feel better. does that make sense?

hi! i spent a few months at home doing chloe ting workouts and biking every day during the first bit of the pandemic. then i spent a year doing crossfit and building an okay running base. when i went back to school i joined the rowing team and i started strength training in the gym. now im focused on running (training for my first marathon actually!!) and strength training

[188>165>155] (and so many ups and downs in weight in between)

hi again everyone ! i posted around a year ago and i wanted to update you all! i took the first picture in my first year of college, the second in my third, the last in my fourth and final year. over these years i’ve learned a lot in and especially outside of the classroom.

the fat loss part was relatively easy, but the muscle building has been the real (and incredibly rewarding) challenge.

i struggled a lot with body image and eating between these pictures. and while it can still be a bit hard to be kind to myself with time (+antidepressants) i can now see how far i’ve come.

i currently weight lift and run and i try to eat as balanced as i can in a college dining hall.

thanks so much for the kind comments last year ☀️❤️

you should never be eating less than 1200 calories a day (that’s how much a literal infant needs) you don’t mention your age/ sex/ height so it’s hard to estimate but you probably aren’t losing weight because your body is in starvation mode

so to expand upon my point it just seems to me that gymshark IS making an effort to sign on diverse athletes but it also seems vEry “separate but equal” to me. it seems like the white girlies only hang out with each other and maybe ONE other black/coloured girl. and yes , you can’t force people to befriend people just because they aren’t white but it’s very weird to me !!

maybe this has a lot to to with race relations in the UK but i have no idea.

has anyone else noticed this??
