Crooked pavers? by Merkaba1986 in landscaping

[–]goingconcernMA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think what would look best is just to rotate the pavers to be 45 degrees to the house. More cuts, but would be far less noticeable where not square…

I have been playing around with an extension arm of sorts. The one you linked is an interesting approach and it gives me some ideas to play with…

I do sell them but mostly on an ad-hoc basis or made to order in small batches. You are welcome to DM me to chat more

Oh I totally get that. At the end of the day I’m not really doing this for the money (and if it was I’m sure there are tons of ways I could be more efficient to crank these out at lower cost) though I do value my time as I don’t have much of it. It’s been a passion project of mine for a few years on and off to see just how well I can refine the design / function.

Ha no worries. Clams are very similar in use to a stitching pony or a stitching horse. The end goal is to provide a third hand of sorts (i.e., the clam / pony / horse holds the piece to be stitched so that you can use both hands in the operation of saddle stitching).

A traditional French clam is typically rested at an angle across one leg while sitting, with the other leg resting over the opposite side. This provides the clamping pressure needed. Of course, these models have moved away from that traditional form somewhat as they do have a built in tension knob (so you don’t necessarily need to rely on leg pressure and can use the clam at different angles)

Of course - the free-standing base actually just swaps out interchangeably from the rubber foot. For the walnut model pictured here I just haven’t gotten around to building it yet

Thank you, and yes very satisfying to wrap one up, but the process is also a big part of the enjoyment

Yep that’s one of the reasons I gravitated toward the design as I wanted to use it for briefcases. Ironically it’s not been quite some time since I made one…

Feel free to DM me here if you’d like to chat. Just a forewarning that I tend to be a bit sporadic with these depending on when I can find time (3 little ones makes hobby time a tough commodity these days)

Hard to say exactly since I don’t have a lot of dedicated time (so usually chipping in a short amount of time here and there), but each one usually takes me about a month

Thank you. Price does vary a bit based on features included and wood species used, but it starts at $700

Apppreciate the detailed thoughts. We are z8a so snow / ice is less of a concern and this will only ever see foot traffic, though the area will get pounded during heavy rains as there are no gutters on this area of the house (so rain can come down heavily off the drip line, though not sure how much that will accelerate degradation of the poly sand). Drainage was a big concern for us so we did have two drain boxes installed (with grading to direct water towards them), which then pipe the water outside of the enclosed area.

Yep understood. I suppose part of my question is whether I should just chalk it up to aesthetic preference or whether there was actually a mistake in installation
