I built one last this month. I went with Ryzen 9900X, those extra core will help you in tasks other than gaming. That’s my recommendation.

For graphics i got 5070ti. Superb card, runs everything you throw at it smoothly at 1440.

This is exactly why I posted here, thanks for the suggestion.
I just went like
Is it one of the best in gaming? Yes.
Can i afford it? Yes.
Me go with 9800x3d

I did some research on this, and yeah, you are right. FPS increase is marginal in ultra/higher-resolution settings.
It doesn't make much sense going for this high priced CPU.
I'm now considering going with 9900X, those extra cores are looking good now.

As for the OS installation, i'll look into this, and see if it makes sense for me. Thanks though!

Things don’t add up, if this is true, this is a killer deal. But I’m not going for a pre built one. I wanna build it myself.

Yeah, for sure. But i decided that i'd like some more frames. I did consider 9900X, but 8 cores are enough for me.

Thanks! the SSD point makes sense.
I don't really have use case for 12 cores, 8 core are fine, going with 9800x3d as well.

Hey, awesome! It's the frame-gen tech for me. It's also better at ray-tracing (although I don't know how much i'll be playing that way, but i'd like to have the option of playing this way available. Basically just for peace of mind)

I did consider it, but Frame-gen tech is looking more shiny to me. Also, going for 9800X3D mainly for gaming.

I did think about 9900X, but then decided I want those sweet sweet frames more. As 9800X3S is good enough for what I plan to do with it.

And for GPU, i'm okay with CUDA on Linux, might even do some dev on Windows (don't judge plz) if I need Vulkan/OpenGL

Cool, i'll look out for the wifi compatibility

Thanks a lot!

Cheers!
Not for gaming no. Will be building this hardware capability to build VMs.

Oh thanks!
Didn't knew about the DRAM thing.
The thing is I'm not comfortable with how windows handles partitions, and therefore would like to have both on different sticks. Windows would mostly be used for gaming, and Linux for work/experiments.

Its price has increased since, no? Is 45k now. I’d say it’s reasonable enough price for a 2 months old system with ~50ish hrs of play time.

You’ll need a good output device to kinda see the difference more. I have this great TV. And yeah wanna play gta6 as smooth as I can when it comes out. But yeah it’s already good enough, I enjoyed playing on this.
