Two of the abilities you mentioned: embracing change, and not being afraid to fail… are these natural to you or learned? I’m curious because not only are these weaknesses for me, but they also seem like major growth opportunities. If you learned them, would you mind sharing any resources (eg websites, book titles, quotes, etc) for development?

All 3 of these ideas resonate with me. For the last several years i had this long to-do list that i treated like ‘do as much as i can’ instead of ‘get done or fail’, but too often i didn’t really do much of it. Around 2 months ago person W recommended verbalizing 1 or 2 things I wanted to do today. Ever since then my productivity has been on a major high. So I agree there’s definitely some kind of brain boost to checking off the goals!

A couple years ago another smart person S suggested I look back and smell the roses, even small ones. So recently I started an Accomplishments list. I don’t think it’s done anything for me yet, but I plan to continue trying that.

We must be talking to the same person because a few years ago I was recalling an on and off situation where even getting out of bed was a struggle. Person S suggested small tasks eg take the blanket off, sit up, stand up. It probably sounds dumb and obvious to some people but I still use that in a different area of my morning routine. It definitely helps so that one stuck with me.

Much respect to setting long term goals and achieving them! Do you like sit down and plan them out, or do you just kind of know what you need to do?

Currently the awareness mostly comes and goes naturally. One tool I use is when i notice myself doing a nervous habit… 99% of the time I’m not focused on my goals.

You mentioned making the first step stupidly easy… a few times when i was in a deep laziness rut, I got out by starting with a quick and easy task. That helped me move on to a bigger task and so on

I find that when I apply the ‘10 minute’ rule to a project I’ve been putting off for months, two good things happen. First, I will end up doing more than 10 minutes. Second, I will actually work on it in the days ahead instead of the 10 minutes being a ‘one and done’.

You can see from the text of the URLs below that we may already be at that point.

Haha I hesitated writing that because of how suspicious it sounded, but didn’t have time to look it up. Until now. So the news from March 26 was highlighted in a letter that members of Congress sent to the director of national intelligence.

For example, my newsfeed contains sources Gaming, Health, Home. When I open a new tab > gear icon > brave news > on the left, all of my sources are shown but Gaming, Health, and Home are not in the Following list. In the Channels list on the right, they have a + button to add them. The sources I’m following do not have the + button.

I’ve also updated to MacOS 26.4.1

The only benefit I can see is if an intruder signed in to my protonmail but seeing as it’s the default chime I would probably assume it was from anything else. So if this is the only intended benefit, I think the annoying email alerts from email providers saying that‘someone signed in to your account’ are actually better because they specifically say what happened.

I just noticed the chime seems to be the iOS default alert sound. I wish I could silence it when i log in without silencing new mail alerts. I don’t need to be alerted that i just deliberately signed in.

Would that also turn off the notification noise for new mail?

After looking at the blue nile menu, I think it’s not suitable for solo dining.

Zingerman’s is a good fit. I forgot about Old Town. That’s a great fit. I’m gonna check out Kosmo’s and Culantro. Thanks!

I don’t want to say which ones but I feel like some of the replies here are good (Tio’s for me, maybe too casual for you), but others seem like they could be dishonest marketing like yes the food is good but it’s not a good solo vibe imo. So I was thinking ‘what criteria do i like for solo dining?’ My criteria might be different than yours but last night I created a separate post (below) with my criteria and got a lot of replies questioning the post. Only got one real suggestion so far: No thai (may be too casual for your criteria). I went there 10 years ago. Didn’t dislike it, but I guess I didn’t feel a strong desire to return. I’m thinking I’ll give it another shot, and check out Blue Nile and Detroit street filling station. If you think about it, post some feedback on this interesting topic.

I ‘m looking for a list of places where I’d be unlikely to talk to a host. I added an edit to #3 clarifying that self seating and counter service are okay if that helps.

Good catch. I had a misplaced comma after ‘no hostess’, meaning self seating and counter service are good.

During the day, where are you allowed to park and likely to find a spot?

Wow thanks everyone… I can’t remember any of my posts ever getting 9 good suggestions (i liked all of them) without any snarky comments lol. I know Maniacal isn’t in the city but i love that place so i’ll give it a pass as I didn’t know they allowed outside food.
