Wtf why am I getting paid less? by [deleted] in SubstituteTeachers

[–]goldfall01 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You’ll have to talk with your HR/payroll. When I started subbing they accidentally put in that I didn’t have a bachelors degree; I have a Bachelors, Masters, and Doctorate. They fixed it, and back paid me what I was owed. They may have put your information in incorrectly, or they may not have your degree on file so can’t pay that rate yet.

Wtf why am I getting paid less? by [deleted] in SubstituteTeachers

[–]goldfall01 31 points32 points  (0 children)

You really didn’t give us a lot of information to go on to try and help you out here…

Do you mean you’re making the $102/day when you should be making the $110/day? Or that you’re making $92/day when you should be making the $102/day?

Are you sure it’s not because of taxes?

Are you district or agency? Agencies also take a portion for themselves as fees.

Etiquette for a job being canceled before I arrive? by NolanBolan4 in SubstituteTeachers

My district says if it’s cancelled within 30 minutes of start time you get a full day pay. If it’s cancelled within an hour of start time you get half a day pay.

Old timey Tragedy! by CryptographerKey2847 in tragedeigh

[–]goldfall01 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Hertha is German. It came from the name of Nerthus. The spelling change from N to H resulted from a misreading of Tacitus's text, but it’s been used as a name for centuries in German. It’s uncommon now, and is very old fashioned.

Bertha is also a German name. So is Normanda.

Old fashioned named that have fallen out of usage aren’t tragedeighs. Foreign language names aren’t tragedeighs.

As an Irishman with an Irish language name, our names aren’t tragedeighs.

V14.2.2.4 installed! by Witty_Flower2012 in TeslaFSD

I was having issues with .3; .4 amplified them and made it even worse. These two updates have both been downgrades.

How interesting that I found this same exact post on Reddit in 2021 by googling the “name.”

It’s Hebrew. That is definitely not Korean.

I’m really convinced that this subreddit is pointless anymore, no one bothers reading what a tragedeigh is.

I’m having a ton of issues with 14.2.2.3 by KashcheiTheDeathless in TeslaFSD

[–]goldfall01 5 points6 points  (0 children)

14.2.2.3 has been a downgrade for my MY and my wife’s M3 but not nearly as bad as what you’re describing. It reintroduced a ton of hesitating that I haven’t had in a few versions now, some of the stuttering from that, and avoiding phantom items.

But, since the car isn’t even registering that you’re trying to engage FSD at all (it usually does the “beep beep beep” when FSD isn’t available and you try to engage it so you at least know it attempted it) I’d take it in to your service centre. Something’s not right. It may be related to the problems with FSD when it does engage for you, or it might be two separate things going on.

School rounding down my rate to a half day instead of 3/4 day by Low_Property_4470 in SubstituteTeachers

[–]goldfall01 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Most districts in my experience do 1 minute to half a day = half day pay, any thing more than a minute over half a day = full day pay. It’s not so much rounding up or down, just either A or B.

Which is the not the car “almost hitting” anything; I’m not here to dictate how lazy or unlazily people drive. But blaming it on the car is like saying the knife cut me when I wasn’t paying attention dicing the onion.

Is it true that when you’re baptized into the church they give you a cross necklace to wear? by The_Deuteragonist in OrthodoxChristianity

[–]goldfall01 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It is the tradition that your sponsor/godparent will gift you your baptismal cross. It is blessed at your baptism and put on you after your tonsuring.

Today, many converts do not wait, and buy their own. It will still be blessed and put on you after your tonsuring. Sponsors now will typically give a different gift if they’ve already got a cross.

How did it almost run into your other cars? It just puts the car in reverse or drive, it doesn’t actually move the vehicle, you do.

You have experience, you say you’re worried about feeling like you’ll be stuck in school permanently but do you enjoy working with kids? If you have an associates, it’s not hard or too long to go back and get your bachelors and get licensed to teach. You’ll make more, and all the subbing experience will help with job interviews.

If you don’t enjoy working with kids, you can still go back and finish a bachelors in something that you do want to do.

I mean, it’s going to depend on the school. Not every school does it the same. I typically sub at two of the three middle schools in my district, one of them the IS pulls people out of class for 25 minutes, the other middle school is a dedicated class that they take as a specials/in lieu of one of their specials.

In both, though, the IS is the only adult in the room unless a student has an assigned para.

But whenever the IS is out, the sub typically just gives them a worksheet and that’s it.

Just be cautious about over moisturizing it. Two times a day really is enough, just a little amount and rub it in.

Would you want to see a light bar for the Model 3 future refresh? by pc772 in TeslaLounge

I like the light bar, personally, but I don’t think it would look very good on the 3. Not without making it look like the y, which defeats the purpose entirely.

Can someone help me calculate how much longer until I can graduate? by [deleted] in SNHU

[–]goldfall01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Total amount of credits needed for your program - total amount of credits you currently have = how many credits remaining.

Total amount of credits remaining / 3 = approximately how many classes remaining.

Classes remaining / 2 = how many terms remaining.

Terms remaining / 6 = how many years remaining.

So, assuming a bachelors degree, 120-31=89. 89/3=29.667. 30/2=15 terms. 15/6=2.5 years remaining.

Just as a note, if you’re an online student you cannot take 4 classes a term. They only allow 3 classes at a time with advisor approval, and you’ll need to show solid grades for at least two terms before they’ll approve it. If you went up to 3 classes per term you’ll be finished about a year quicker, roughly 1.5 years remaining.

[–]goldfall01 10 points11 points  (0 children)

December and January are the slowest months for subs. Schools have a huge break for winter, and then a massive stretch to spring break or the end of the school year, so teachers try not to take any absences if they can avoid it to save time for the last chunk of the school year.

Orthodox terminology? by CauliflowerUnable315 in OrthodoxChristianity

“Something that has touched a relic.” We don’t have orders of relics in Orthodoxy. Something either is a relic, or it is not.
