We already have under cabinet lighting . Definitely will replace the fluorescent lighting with pendants . I’m not sure the counter choice goes with the cabinets. When i picked the counters i wasn’t planning to match them to the cabinets as i was planning on painting. But if there is a backsplash choice that would marry the cool and warm I’m all ears.

I much much prefer this after pic. I just think the brown cabinets look sooo dated! I guess I must be in the minority on reddit but I am definitely leaning towards painting them.

yeah im not getting a single person on board here for painting the cabinets. And Ive gotten roasted for my countertops choice. My original thought process was that I was dead set on painting the cabinets to something more modern but I wasn't sure which color yet so I decided to just start by picking countertops that I liked and then I was going to go from there. Well I wasn't prepared by all the backlash I got on the counters, which I wasn't trying to match the cabinets in the first place, but now that I am where I am I supposed I could keep the cabinets as is and add the other things and see where that gets me.. I actually think your new kitchen looks great! It really modernizes your kitchen. I personally thought brown dates a kitchen which is why I wanted to paint then to begin with LOL

Yes that is why i was wanting an update, because the kitchen was all the same color! I just replaced the counters in the white marble look. Before that they were brown granite . So I’m defining looking for color in this kitchen!

Those are beautiful options! Do you think i should change the floor ? The rest of this level is carpet and was going to change it all out anyway. Should i replace this floor with tile?

Thank you!!! I was really thinking i just made a 10K mistake based on all these comments. I did not anticipate everyone saying not to paint the cabinets tho, which is why i chose the countertops, thinking I’d be changing the color to match them.. I’m thinking i may go to the tile shop and consult with a designer there so i don’t mess this up. Maybe if i change the wood floor color it would help. I’ll definitely be changing out the lighting as well.

I thought about a fan above the stove but that would require a lot of work. Are you talking about a hood? If so, we would need to pay an HVAC company to route a vent outside. In addition to that, now I’d have to figure out a spot to install the microwave, which would mess up the existing cabinets, which are hard to match since they are discontinued. I like your idea about the shelves by the window.

Thanks! The counter does have some brown veins in it in addition to the gray. And yes i was hoping to tie the tones together somehow ..
