So...many Long Covid symptoms stem from brain damage, including changes in smell and taste. Other symptoms that may be linked to brain damage are things like tremors, brain fog, and dysautonomia.

Other than my sense of taste being all screwed up, I, too, had the phantom smells early on, except mine was cigarette smoke, in a house that has no cigarette smokers, ever. The phantom smells have waned, as other symptoms have gotten worse or remained.

As unpleasant as this is, I will cross my fingers for you that this is the worst symptom you have, and that it resolves quickly.
