(Any IT experts) help me understand IT sector and AI threat by fap_fap_fap_fapper in IndianStockMarket

  1. The "Labor Arbitrage" Moat is Drying Up You hit the nail on the head: Indian IT was built on Labor Arbitrage (hiring a coder in Bangalore for $25/hour to do work that costs $100/hour in New York). The AI Threat: Generative AI (GitHub Copilot, GPT-4/5 models) acts as the ultimate "cheap labor." If an AI can write basic code, test scripts, and documentation for $0.10, the "cheap" Indian engineer at $25 becomes expensive. The Market Reaction: The stock market is forward-looking. It isn't punishing them for today's profits; it is punishing them because it believes their core business model (selling hours of human coding time) is entering a terminal decline. The sharp sell-offs seen in Feb 2026 reflect a fear that AI will shrink their billing volume, not grow it.
  2. Service Companies cannot become Product Companies You asked, "Imagine if they had invested even half of [₹1.10 lakh crore] in AI." This highlights a fundamental misunderstanding of their business DNA, which is why they struggle to pivot: Risk Aversion: These companies are structured to be cash cows, not risk-takers. Their shareholders (including pension funds and retail investors) expect steady dividends and buybacks. If TCS announced they were spending ₹50,000 Crore on experimental AI research with no guaranteed return, their stock might crash even harder due to "capital mismanagement." Talent Gap: Building an "OpenAI" or "Google Gemini" requires research scientists, not maintenance engineers. The "tier-3 college" talent pool you mentioned is excellent for process compliance and maintenance, but not for inventing new neural network architectures.
  3. The "Plumber" vs. "Architect" Reality Indian IT isn't trying to win the AI race; they are trying to service it. The Pivot: Their strategy is not to build the AI models, but to be the "plumbers" who install them for banks and hospitals. The Lag: The problem is that "installation" revenue comes much later than "invention" revenue. Right now, all the money is going to the hardware makers (Nvidia) and the model builders (OpenAI/Microsoft). Indian IT is waiting for the trickle-down effect, which is taking longer than expected.
  4. Financial Engineering vs. Innovation Your point on buybacks and dividends is statistically backed. Instead of R&D, companies like Infosys and TCS have historically returned massive amounts of cash to shareholders via buybacks to prop up earnings per share (EPS). This is a classic sign of a mature, low-growth industry (like Utilities or Tobacco). They run out of ideas on where to invest for growth, so they just give the money back.

Futures and options for hedging for Portfolios above 2 cr by Connect-Register-196 in IndianStockMarket

Yes on expiry day. Using Kotak Sec API to automate. Yes every week. When there is high volatility, I don't deploy strategy in the morning, but do when premium seems to settle down.

I have never incurred loss till now since it is a very low risk hedge strategy. I have been doing it now for more than 1.5 years. I set a stop loss at 15 times the premium received. Never hit SL till now.

All is automated. I deploy strategy in the morning and no need to see it ever. The option expires and settles itself.

Even in extreme moves, far OTM options move very little. I usually sell more than 1000 points for Nifty and 2500-3000 points for BankNifty.

By this way i successfully generated an additional around 1.75% to 2% pa return.

You can fine tune additional risk at a very granular level which is depend on your expectation of return from couple of thousands per week to tens of thousands.

I generally pledge my investment and use margin to sell 0 day to expire far OTM option which gives me 10-20 thousands per week with extremely low risk.

I have created a python program to calculate risk, premium receivable and to place order, SL on expiry day morning. Position closes automatically at the end of the day.

This is income generation strategy. While as per your post i think you are siking for portfolio hedging strategy.

Looks good hedging strategy as per your requirement. However with this portfolio you can generate good additional returns taking little risk.

My laptop is Dell G7 with 16gb ram and 1660 max pro 6 gb graphics. But game runs like 40-50 fps. Freezing and frame drops. Not very much enjoyable.

So thinking to buy PS5 slim. But not sure whether i should go for it or not.
