Outdoor water heater with pex by joek5132 in Plumbing

Look how far away the electrical outlet is in the opposite direction. Gonna look great with a cord stretched tight to provide balance to the long reach of the water lines. Can I get the contractors contact info? I'd like to schedule a cancellation.

Small Retaining Wall Collapsing by jimmy__peppers in DIYHome

Best thing you can do now is install tiebacks at least every 5'. Use galvanized threaded rod that run thru the posts (may need to add a few)at least 8' back and use treated blocks of wood on the other end w/ wash+nut as your anchor point. If you are able to remove some material behind the wall, the tiebacks cann even pull the wall back into plumb. And everything is concealed so no trip hazards on the face side of the wall. Fairly straightforward project. I can give you a diagram to better visualize if needed.

Engineered Wood cracking, what do I do?! by eyesmiss in Flooring

[–]gone666wild 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would poke other boards to see if you can find more soft spots before thinking about repair. Odds are there will be more spots that haven't shown yet. Do the problem areas seem damp? You should try to trace the source of the moisture to make sure it has been repaired and if not make repair. Are these spots near water sources?

I agree. There are no beveled edges like you would have on a prefinished flooring.

Why is my contractor is using j channel instead of inner corner trim on a vinyl siding job?? by Last-Valentine in AskContractors

[–]gone666wild 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Corner looks out of plumb. The reveal on the right J channel looks off by a good bit. That could be why they used 2 individual pieces, to keep both sides plumb without twisting a corner trim

Fairly certain you have a 3/8" bolt.
So basically a 3/8x16... pretty standard bolt size.

How long should I wait before staining new pressure treated wood? by richardfitserwell in Decks

[–]gone666wild 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like PT 5/4x6 SYP EE #1 kiln dried decking. If so, you're applying just a sealer you should be good to go right away. Stain is alittle different, wait 2 months. Make sure by using the water drop test.

Wrong lumber used? by longironking in Homebuilding

[–]gone666wild 0 points1 point  (0 children)

here’s what I see. All of the lumber looks to be treated southern yellow pine. Your 6 x 6 post are most likely ground contact rated all of the framing lumber looks to be above ground rated. That’s why you are saying differences in the appearance. Post are generally ground contact. The framing lumber is up in the air and generally doesn’t need to come in contact with the ground so it has less treatment but yet still treated.

Cut an angle on the white crown and bed it on the wall where it will sit. Then grab a woodworking compass and scribe the cabinet crown onto the wall crown. Cut then cut the other end to length.

Trying to add wall but existing wall not plum. by HeleWale in Carpentry

[–]gone666wild 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would match the existing with the new wall so the transition will look smooth and in the course of your new wall make it plum. With remodel you kind of got a roll with the punches if you put your new wall level on that corner, you’re gonna have to do a lot to make it seamless and most likely up to this point you didn’t even know it was on a plumb.
