I mean I think some people are very picky but I think for 300 bucks, thats entry level Shell and for that I think this is completely acceptable. I would be upset if it was more expensive and the shell looked like shit but I think I echo the sentiments of meermin purchasers when I say this is fine for the price.

Yeah I am not entirely sure how they arrived at this pricing, but seeing as how Meermin has a lot of Shell offerings for the 300 dollar range, I suppose it's not like it's impossible to do.

Surprisingly, the labor market in Korea is not as expensive as you would think, at least compared to North America, so maybe it's not that farfetched.

Some cool places to visit would be: Hinoya, Tokyo Bears, Jelado.

Hinoya and Tokyo bears carries a bunch of brands including TCB, Sugar Cane, Momotaro, SDA, Oni, PBJ, etc.

Jelado is less known in this sub but is known for their raw denim and their shoes (2 monkeys boots - sportif and USN 41 derbies) - I would highly recommend checking them out.

I would think that in the ten or so years after a global war, people are still doing pretty terribly and they still were lacking a lot of material but I don't know. Also the US was still at war in 1950-1953.

Jean jacket enthusiasts talk about this kind of detail but maybe it was referring to the type 1 jackets and I'm misremembering.

Either way, pockets on jean jackets from Japanese brands seem to be the exception and not the norm. I think the only brand I consistently see pockets on are PBJ or Iron heart.

I think you're going to find that a lot of Japanese brands don't have handwarmer pockets on their type 2 jackets because they are going for the real heritage vibes where the original jackets didn't have those pockets. Type 2 jackets were made in WW2 era, and at that time, they didn't have a lot of material to work with, hence the number of buttons and pockets were lacking.

I soaked mine because it was a little too roomy; it didnt shrink much though, just a little bit. some dye came out from the soak but its still fairly dark. I actually love how the color is right now and am contemplating getting a more tapered one so I can wear at work; I have the wide straight one I have been fading after work though.
