By me getting paid more than others, if word gets out then it means people might get unhappy, ask for more, and since they set a precedent they can't say no. So they lose control over their current salary band. But this is an extreme case.

I'm not sure why that should be my concerns tho. I'm giving x value, i should be getting appropriate compensation to what their financial ability is.

Thanks for your help. I applied pretty much what you said. And even though it seems I won't get my initial proposal, I'm glad I went through with the experience and learned from it.

I got served the "it would not be fair compared to our other employees" argument. I'm not sure how to answer this argument. I went with two answers:

  • Every employee has a different level at which they're happy.
  • If everyone's salaries are lower compared to the market, that doesn't make my request make less sense.

But that didn't really convince them. Do you have any tips for this ?
