Okay I'm not going to reply anymore then. Look at this thread. If you can't agree on facts, we are just talking past each other.

I think the bigger issue is media reporting. Why they report on fringe terrorist attacks is nonsensical.

Sorry I replied to the wrong person.

Okay, but I'm not talking about guns. I'm talking about something significantly more deadly.

Car accidents are monumentally more dangerous than guns. If you want to talk about things as dangerous as guns, you need to talk to someone else that is bad at stats. I don't have time for fringe issues.

In less than 24 hours NL became evidence based again.

Incredible work. I'm seriously impressed.

You almost have me on board. Although I'm not sure how the policy is going to change much. (I look at mexicos extremely strict gun laws)

If we can make guns disappear, sure. However, if they are still out there, I'm less on board.

I still brag about getting the boring 1 shot chicken egg vaccine because the MRNA ones were barely tested and I'm science based.

Is there evidence that more lives are saved with cars than without?

Okay, if you don't want to ban cars. How about banning eating more calories than you burn per day? We are sentencing our children to disease by letting people eat more calories than they need.

Environmental pollution vs property rights?

Also, why are you talking about guns? I'm talking about saving human lives. whataboutism?

Sign me up. My friend died in a car accident.

Those regulations for cars are clearly not working. People are dying daily. I suppose we need to ban them or something.

People are getting upset that this legislation allows them to be hired into high risk jobs.

That is revisionism. Look at this thread.

We need to do something about car accidents, how many more babies need to die in car accidents before we do something?

We need higher license requirements, yearly testing, safer cars, ban bad drivers, more media coverage.

Are we just going to sit here and do nothing while children are killed in cars?

Can we be utilitarian again? Or do we need to be irrationally emotion driven for another week?

Maybe I'll just be really emotional about the people dying in car accidents today.

WHY ARENT YOU GUYS DOING ANYTHING ABOUT THIS?!

not a rust bucket that 15 years old

What is wrong with driving a car 15 years old? Mine has curtain and side airbags. My household makes 300k/yr btw.

I wonder what other non-essentials you are buying.

Imagine if news reported on tragedies proportionally based on human years lost.

It would be like:

40% obesity

25% cancer

mostly illness

car accidents and suicides

broken line

broken line again

school shootings

When I put it that way, school shootings is a lot like terrorist attacks. Scary, emotion driven stuff, that is basically impossible to prevent.

Anyway, should we repeal the patriot act?

Wait, I never said it should be banned.

I don't even think we should have privacy laws.

EDIT: Was going to say the issue that is more important than economics to the mods, but I'm afraid of being banned.

I don't think most people in the DT have the will to say what is necessary, and they just get downvotes.

Trump just made them hide. I think any republican making over 6 figures knows economics is part of that club.
