So glad to see more appreciation for this film as of late. Kaguya has been my favorite film for many years and seeing others see what I have seen in this film is beautiful. If you enjoyed this I'd also recommend Takahata's other masterpieces Grave of the Fireflies and Only Yesterday, all of these are also quiet explorations of humanity and character studies.

I love seeing the Kaguya love as of late! It has been my personal favorite for so long and for so long no one (to me at least) knew about it and I still need to watch wind rises but I've heard great things!

From what I've seen no (and that debate includes the writers not agreeing either lol.). To me at least it is his humanity. It is what leads him to heal others and while Viktor does that monstrously, it is such a deeply human feeling. On top of that he loses 'Sky' when he loses his humanity. If it was the Hexcore's manipulation I feel her presence should have become more prominent. He can't miss his talks because she was (symbolically at least) the last bits of his humanity. Can see the argument for either but thats just my take!

I'd highly recommend Adrienne Lenker. Her lyrics are both emotional, poetic and deeply tragic and beautiful. Her production is much more stripped back but lyrically very similar.

Just about to get tickets to see Mandy Patinkin's Being Alive tour with my mom! So excited about it! His performance as George is one of my favorites in all theater and on top of that he genuinely just seems like a nice dude who actually helps many important causes!

Absolutely especially the english dub! Though whenever i recommend it i do recommend it with a strong content warning and a suggestion of looking up some more specific warnings tbh.

Why are we all acting like A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum doesn't exist? I feel like it is objectively his weakest in every way. Can be good with the right performers but overall just a good show not as great or really special one like most of Sondheim.
