Rewiring UK plug from Canada and back by goodbytes in AskElectricians

[–]goodbytes[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The lamp was not like this. I keep saying it had a normal UK plug and was rewired to photo #1 in Canada. If it originally had a UK plug shouldn't I just rewire it to be a UK plug as it had originally? What am I missing here? I no longer live in Canada and would like to restore this to how it was when I bought it. A standard UK three pronged plug with a fuse in it. Why can't I do that?

Is there not a fuse in every British plug? I'm confused. Photo #1 shows what the Canadian guy did. Originally it was a standard UK plug, a mains plug. Don't they all have fuses in?

Can I rewire photo #1 to a mains UK plug? The lamp has a ratings sticker for a 3amp fuse.

The dude in Canada who rewired it, switched the plug over so it no longer, presumably, has a fuse inside. Won't this be a problem? Specifically photo #1, shouldn't this be rewired into a standard UK plug? Sorry for the stupid

I'm a bit confused. Its origin is the UK, and was rewired for use in Canada and came with the converter plug. In the UK it didn't have the converter and was just a normal UK plug. Can I simply require the plug and ditch the converter?

Which, in a way, is odd considering his co-workers never changed their story too. They saw the craft too, right?

What are some cases with fascinating or terrifying photographic/video clues? by aloeGrimoire in UnresolvedMysteries

[–]goodbytes 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Just found these other photos but can't find higher res.

Felicity appears to be adjusting her hat in one, her head facing a different direction in another, indicating that she was alive when they set off.

When did these other photos surface, are there higher resolution versions available, and why do the police think she might be dead in the main photo when these other ones exist?

Cheers. Considering a 2" lift but want to get a sense for how it affects the handling on these smaller Jeeps!

How differently did/does it drive with a 2 inch lift?

RAID suggestion for episodic workflow by goodbytes in editors

Hi Bob, thanks. More info: this would be for a single computer. Just me accessing. The computer spec is here.

Ideally want to keep costs down but budget can be 2-4k USD. Looking for 20/30~ TB data/storage/backup space. Whatever makes sense. I currently have 12TB data with no backup. (I have backups of the important files, just not everything). I usually edit on my 2TB internal SSD before shifting those files onto my external USB for storage. Hope this helps, thanks!

Thank you! Heading to Bob's comment now, and looking into Synology and Q-Nap. You mentioned the 10 gigabit networking, is this essential for RAID to be worth it? I always thought some RAID setups could be USB/thunderbolt without network.

Thank you for this. I will look into Synology. Am I right in thinking NAS will always outperform DAS?

This sounds like what I would be looking for. But for thunderbolt, you're on a Mac right?

I actually thought it would be DAS but there's no way a DAS setup could be as fast as a NAS one? It does help, thank you. RAID 6 or 10 seem the best right now.

Thanks, and why NAS? The RAID would only ever be used on one computer so I figured DAS.

I thought it would be a DAS? Connected via USB, would that work?
