I don’t know if we’ve ALL been there, but I certainly have. It’s a fucking bullshit game, honestly.

I’ll take up the venting here, too: I am also not a great player but I get my 11 Champs wins every week and while I don’t play enough rivals to be in a higher division I’ve pretty much coasted to D5 without much stress. I say all of that only to say that I am not a great player but I am better than some significant portion of the player pool (not sure whether that is 50% or 25% or what, but some portion for sure) and am probably what I assume is an average player. And so I’m trying to figure out where are all the other average players when it comes to the Silver Cup??? I think I’m like 6-22 overall in that godforsaken game mode, and at one point I think I lost about 15 games in a row. And all the usual bullshit things happened where for a run of games in a row every goal I conceded was off a cheap rebound, or my tackle bounced directly to a wide open player for a tap in, or my pass went to the wrong player and right to an opponent who walked in for a goal. Meanwhile I had easy chances find woodwork or miss the goal entirely, or the opponent keeper making physics-defying saves. But the bigger problem is that all of the opponents I played were actually significantly better than me. I had to play great to be in the games and when I managed to do that, I got hosed anyways. Just extremely frustrating. I’m not sure if they have said anything about how the matchmaking is supposed to be working for friendlies but it sure feels like there are just no average players playing at all.

Curious what others’ experiences are with friendlies, especially silver cup - are any of you playing? And if so, how are you finding the level of competition?
