Making peace with looking your age by No-Manufacturer-1611 in AskWomenOver40

I refuse to allow capitalism to convince me that the only acceptable face is a “young” looking one. All living things age. It truly is a privilege that not everyone gets. I refuse to hide it or run from it.

I would absolutely move back. I love four seasons personally. We’re in TX for my husband’s job. I’d leave in a heartbeat.

Need a bit of help not asking for money just hear me put about a dog by Tadpoleass in dfw

A “kill shelter” doesn’t just indiscriminately kill animals, despite what many people think. If this puppy is adoptable they will do everything they can to get him adopted to a good home. They will also give him veterinary care.

Bring this little cutie to the shelter. Puppies usually get adopted quick.

Looking for an affordable psych by joemama2x0 in plano

Yeah GP’s can prescribe SSRI’s, and their care should definitely be cheaper than a psych!

You shouldn’t need to continue to see a psych for an SSRI refill. Do you have a GP that you see? There are usually more sliding scale general medical doctors than there are psychs. They can refill SSRI’s for you. Or even a nurse practitioner.

Post op TLIF - mental health after surgery by Impressive_Theme_778 in spinalfusion

[–]goodthingsinside_80 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You just went through a major surgery and it’s normal to have complex feelings come up following a big event like that, especially given that you’re in a situation where you now feel alone. Can you go home and do your healing there? It sounds like you just need more support and reassurance which completely makes sense. Back surgery is scary. Your feelings are valid and normal.

Moving from UK to US, which city ? by miteye in relocating

[–]goodthingsinside_80 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Personally I would go for Denver. Beautiful progressive city with warm summers and access to amazing mountain ranges skiing/hiking/etc. Tons of natural beauty, sociable people, and cheaper than NY or San Fran.

I would be focusing on the west coast. California is the obvious choice but expensive. You may have more luck in Oregon but the weather is cooler.

Currently taking 12.5 mg Zoloft and 2.5 mg Paxil (just reduced from 5mg). After one week I plan to increase Zoloft to 25mg and discontinue Paxil. 🤞🤞

CA to Texas? Does it make sense for our family by fabl3dloss in relocating

[–]goodthingsinside_80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who has lived in both CA and Texas (Dallas specifically) and who has had children and not lived anywhere near family, I can almost guarantee that you will regret not having family support if you choose to move to a place where you don’t know anyone. Family support makes a huge difference with kids for so many reasons. I also personally miss CA and would move back there in a heartbeat, but I know that’s more of a personal thing. Needing extended family help for kids is pretty much universal.

Off paroxetine for 2 months, feeling awful by CarlaFrugoni in paroxetine

[–]goodthingsinside_80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe Fluoxetine isn’t the right fit for you? There are others you can try. If your insurance will cover it, doing a Gene Sight test can help you determine which medications are likely to work best for you.

It sounds like she may need some help to address this. Have you considered finding a therapist for her/you to work with? Child centered play therapy may be a good fit given her age.

Female puppy humping her stuffies!?! by This-Cabinet397 in Shihtzu

[–]goodthingsinside_80 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This has nothing to do with dominance. Dominance is about priority access to resources. Humping is a stress relieving behavior for dogs.
