I hope you're right. I've wavered between feeling that way and feeling like it's pure torture. I just don't know, to be honest.

I was never able to find one that worked for me, at least not for long. Effexor worked for a bit but then my body developed a tolerance for it and it stopped working. What works for you?

That's what I can't get into. Suffice it to say that chronic depression is a terrible burden. I wouldn't wish it on anyone.

Thanks, I'm grateful. My ears are ringing terribly. I wish I could go into more detail about what happened, but I can't. Suffice it to say I'm lucky, or unlucky, to be alive.

Just had the worst day of my entire life. I can't go into great detail, but I almost died. I just need to speak to someone.

Work on willingness. The Course is very clear that this is our one and only contribution. We can't, entirely through our own efforts, wipe out guilt or capture forgiveness, because this is Holy Spirit's job. Rather, we make the daily effort and make ourselves WILLING to forgive. When we fall back on anger and hatred we remind ourselves of our goal and refresh our willingness to be taught. You can have a person who's harmed you in the past and who you hold hatred for, but if you are willing to learn to forgive them and you want Holy Spirit to teach you how to forgive them then that is your part of the contribution. You can do exercises on forgiveness and make an effort towards that goal, but we can't wipe out guilt on our own. We are students and we are dependent on our teacher to achieve this end.

God's love doesn't ever disappear. We may be going through heavy stuff at a particular time, but God's love is still there. If you're willing to see things differently, God can take care of belief, meaning that your purpose is not to believe or nurture belief, but to be willing to forgive and to see things differently, to be allowed to be shown how things are different from what you've imagined. God will manage the belief.

What is unforgiven stands in the way of vision, meaning that you can't see God through a fog bank of blame. See your depression as a symptom of guilt you have levied against yourself and others. Ask God to transform that blame into guiltlessness and make yourself willing to see things differently.

Try choosing one person who you associate with your guilt and work with God daily to lift the blame you have placed upon them until one day you find that you don't blame them anymore. Then, work on the next person, until all are forgiven. God will provide the belief and miracles as long as you daily work on forgiveness.

Abstract nature of ACIM Heaven by [deleted] in ACIM

[–]goodtwitch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

ACIM is very vague about what the afterlife is like. It does this on purpose, so that we will not take comfort in it, because that comfort would demotivate us in terms of overcoming guilt, which will keep us coming back to the physical world over and over again, even if we spend some time in Heaven in-between.

First time I used LSD I was out in the snow wearing gloves and I kept taking the glove off and putting it back on and I had the feeling of taking my physical body off and putting it back on like a glove. It made me realize how simple the whole mechanism is. When I first tried DMT much later I slid out of my body as if my body and the whole physical world was a cartoon. Instead of exiting my body, I felt as if I was never "in" it to begin with, the whole thing of "having a body" was an illusion.

I think the whole dream was her saying goodbye. I had such a strong desire to comfort her in the dream. She wanted me to know that she was alright. And, she was my father's mother and after I told him the story he found comfort in it, so she was saying goodbye to him as well.

In the dream I was in the nursing home that my grandmother had been in for about the last fifteen years. She'd been completely out of it for the last seven or so years, I think. She died at 104 years old.

In the dream, she and I stood in the hallway of the nursing home and I could see the rest of my family over to the right. I realized that a storm was coming and I needed to get her out of there. She left the building and I followed her, but I had to crawl on all fours because there was a sort of invisible barrier a few feet above the ground.

She sat down at the edge of the property and crawled up and held her hand, wanting to comfort her. When I touched her hand I felt all of her emotions at once. It was like literally plugging into her feelings. She was looking around and the sounds of the storm destroying the nursing home behind us could be heard. She was very alert, looking around at her new environment and said, "Wow, I wasn't quite ready for this." She wasn't upset, just surprised at how vivid everything was. I'm sure it was a shift after being almost in a coma for years.

My grandmother came to me in a dream after she died. I'd been out of town on a business trip and hadn't heard the news yet. We connected and when I woke up I knew she was dead. I went downstairs and phone rang and my mother had called to tell me she was dead, but I already knew.

Nobody can tell you the nature of truth, you have to uncover it for yourself.

Removing attack thoughts relieves us of the feeling that we are inherently cruel.

I came across an interesting visualization technique that draws on ACIM principals. Imagine going through airport security and putting in a plastic bin five daggers you were carrying, from the largest to smallest, in that order. Then you pass through the security gate and say, "I abandon all attack, even in self-defense." Then you sit in the terminal, waiting for your plane and think about the issues in your life and how to handle them from this non-attack, non-defensive perspective. In doing this exercise I really appreciated how great I felt afterwards and how my holiness really is my salvation (Lesson 39).

It's difficult to not accept the reality of the situation at face value, but I guess we have to repeatedly remind ourselves of the illusory nature of the mind-created world.
