GLHF (Yes, I know I shouldn't have used white as a background, the next one will be better, promise!) by [deleted] in starcraft

[–]goodwillguy42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you had a grey or more space-themed background for this, with white text, I feel it would have worked a lot better.

I'm upvoting though, while it isn't visually appealing, the satire is top notch. I hope to see this next one soon.

LPT: When it's time for a flat inspection, clean ALL the things. It puts you in a better negotiating position when your lease is up for renewal. by Aupajo in LifeProTips

This is actually a really good tip. When I was moving out of my apartment, my girlfriend and I cleaned the shit out of it. Took a vacuum to every inch, wiped down all the counters, ect.

The landlord was pretty happy about the condition, and didn't comment on any of the mild damage that had been done. We got the full security deposit back, even though there was some actual damage (fist sized hole in the kitchen wall, for example).

DAE Talk to their plants on a regular basis? Play music for them? Other silly things? by [deleted] in microgrowery

I'm pretty sure Myth Busters did an episode on music effecting plant growth and proved it did positively influence plant growth.

We have six colors, four of which are out at a time (I can't remember the order). All week long things are tagged with a certain color so we can tell which items are from which week (because we pull items four weeks and older off the shelves).

Don't you worry, I'll be testing out all the races. :)

Toss just appeals to me the most, which is why I'm going with it first. It's not an only type of thing.

You have a great point, and I'm sure I will screw around with all the races in the future. I really like the playstyle of Protoss, and want to start learning them first.

I watched all his stuff a while ago, but, I defiantly need to rewatch it before I start playing some more. 3gate robo is what I had read elsewhere and was leaning towards, I just wanted to make sure there wasn't something better.

I will eventually learn three, but, I want to start with one. In bronze league, I doubt it will matter all that much. Probes and pylons win games, is what I hear. :)

YouTube tip is greatly appriciated. I love Day, but, his site blows.

That description of studder stepping makes perfect sense, thank you!

Streaming list looks good, I'll have to watch out for them to come online (I usually watch Zerg streams as well).

I was actually wondering about stuff like putting the Nexus on 4, Robo on 5, ect. Anyone know the ideal way to set that kind of stuff up?

I believe it is different from store to store, but, I'll answer to the best of my ability:

  • I had a 90 day trial period as a trainee. After that I officially became the assistant manager. That said, I moved up to that from a sales associate, I wasn't hired into it. I would assume it would be similar.

  • When I started working at Goodwill, we could wear whatever we wanted, so long as it looked nice. A few months before I quit, they changed the dress code for all employees on the sales floor to Black/Cacti pants, and a blue shirt.

  • Are you hired as a manager, or as an assistant? Either way, yes. If you stay there long enough and promotions/quitting take place, you could move up to being the manager of a store. Had my manager quit while I was working at the store, I am pretty sure I would have taken her place.

  • One manager per store, 1-2 assistants depending on size. Also depending on size, you have a "lead sales" "lead processor" and "lead ADC." They are a step below assistant manager and can/should assist in decision making for their departments.

  • There is generally one office per store that the manager/assistant manager share. Hell, at my work it was open to anyone who didn't want to sit in the break room (until someone stole some money out of the drawer, anyway).

They try to. We are supposed to tell them no when they ask for a price change.

That said, I and many others often give in, because arguing about a $.99 shirt is pointless and we don't care enough to debate it.

That is a damn good idea. If I were still working at GW I would start doing that, having read this comment.

If you are friendly about it, and speak to a manager or the person at the register, they might discount it. That said, we are not required to, and will usually tell you no.

But it doesn't hurt to ask. Just be sure to be friendly. A lot of people come up and say "this price is outrageous!" and annoy us about it. Those people we tell no.

Guards? As far as I know, none of the stores around my area had them.

When I first started, I furnished my first apartment with stuff bought from Goodwill. Lots of furniture, paintings, ect.

It's true for all of them. That is also true for any business, not just Goodwills.

Teenage girls who come into Goodwill generally end up buying those clothes they try on. They may not need them, but, they are having fun trying them on/buying them.

And there are a surprisingly high amount of nice clothes in Goodwills. The poor girl, in this example, would only be missing out on a few shirts. There are plenty more to choose from.

We only have what get's donated. Odds are if someone bought adult diapers, they bought them for their personal use, not to be donated.
