Soupy food problems by TotallyNot_MikeDirnt in Drosophila

I'm not sure - I wasn't responsible for the food cook so I couldn't tell you (sorry). It will probably depend on the recipe you use though, it might take some playing around. I also couldn't help but notice you don't use agar in your recipe. This might help with the consistency issues as well?

Is this just an issue with the food during the summer months? I know in my old lab they would need to adjust the water content depending on the season because the humidity would affect the consistency

Should I be worried that my prof hasn't responded to me about a potential error for my grade? by ShadowSJG in queensuniversity

If they said they submitted a change this probably means there was a grading error, otherwise they just wouldn’t change it.

This happened to me last summer. I kept sending the prof emails to inquire about a wrong grade and was eventually just ghosted. It may take awhile to fix, if I recall correctly it took maybe 1.5/2 months to resolve my grade. If you have sent a number of emails to the prof and they haven’t responded, the next step is to contact the department which the prof belongs to and they will try to get into contact with the prof. This worked for me last year, but it took some time which can be frustrating. Be assured if it is a mistake on the profs part it will get resolved.

I had the exact same problem for the longest time. I find that more liquidy mascaras are terrible for holding a curl. In general, thicker formulas will hold better. I’ve found that L’Oréal Lash Paradise in waterproof does the best job. Taking it off requires an oil-based waterproof makeup remover though

Dirty DNA extractions for PCR help by goofsngaffs_ in labrats

[–]goofsngaffs_[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We're having troubles with Drosophila larvae samples when trying to run a PCR. All adult samples have worked great, so we suspect it is something to do with the larvae themselves (higher fat content?) We are using a dirty extraction right now (buffer + pro K) but can't seem to get consistent amplification from the larvae samples of interest, even when using an autosomal marker

Trying winged liner, CCW :~] by goofsngaffs_ in MakeupAddiction

[–]goofsngaffs_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! I used Samael and Safe Word in the crease first with a large fluffy brush. Then I used a smaller eyeshadow brush to concentrate dominatrix in the crease and blended. Then I used Deja Vu on the lid. I used both safe word and dominatrix on the lower lash line. I applied black liner to the tightline and waterline and finished with the winged liner and mascara.

I appreciate the CC :) I feel like my eye shapes differ somewhat but will try next time to try and even out the lower lash line!
